Hopefully Butlers learnt a lesson here… blindly thinking you know best despite it being clearly obvious you need to do something different is NOT a formula for success!!!
November 23, 2024 at 9:38 pm #294494We’ll see if he sticks to this on Tuesday night.
November 23, 2024 at 9:50 pm #294495If he tries to put ‘his own original stamp’ on teams he will lose this job.
Learn, change and listen – he might well survive and even prosper.
Mr Schofield – are you advising him?
Please use your experience – we are seeing too little evidence.
If today hasn’t proved that the naysayers had a pretty good case what will?
I am sure that pretty much all fans were delighted with Andy for the first time in weeks. Sensible structure, playing the right players.4 users thanked author for this post.
November 23, 2024 at 9:57 pm #294496So he hasn’t ‘got to go’ now then? He must be relieved. Why do you imagine he’ll be taking any pointers from you after you started this thread?
To be clear, though I agree it came across wrong the ‘pointers’ were from a great many people on here who know their football.
We should maybe investigate the 360° u turn and arrogance of dogged belief in a useless, crap, unentertaining system which after two abysmal home displays has suddenly gone!!
Someone is taking notice and if you believe it’s AB and JS you must believe in the tooth fairy, Santa Claus and fairies.
The only change in a week is LT but that’s not the reason, it’s the people who made the decision on both LT and the playing system who obviously know football and care about the club.
November 23, 2024 at 10:44 pm #2944984 at the back 4 at the back olay olay olay 4 at the back,
who’d have thunked it. A Lot more balanced team looked pretty solid at the back for a change, left a few goals on the pitch Beck should have scored another 2 but alls good they weren’t needed in the end. Didn’t think Beck and Danny would work as well as it did, small steps in the right direction keep it up on Tuesday and that’s you Butler.1 user thanked author for this post.
November 24, 2024 at 8:31 am #294517If all are fit – Williams will likely be on the bench, Tuesday.
Odd world we inhabit, innit?November 24, 2024 at 8:51 am #294518Weather forecast suggests that the Darlo game will be on. Conditions okay.

As they were for the original game last season!
December 1, 2024 at 4:57 pm #294968Our favourite super-mod (who is eerily quiet, in stark contrast to the gloating and petty squabbling post-Leamington) loves an X quote so here’s a couple of views from prominent members of the SUFC community.
Matt Ellis Iron Bru podcast host and Iron Trust board member:
‘The badge had been disgraced today. Why save a club to then bring that to the fans. Butler is on thin ice, and if he isn’t, he fucking needs to be. Disgraceful, embarrassing. #UTI’
Loyal IRON fan FlatCapsNBorvil:
‘Under Butler I genuinely don’t think we’ll even make top 7. Get a new bloke in who knows what he’s doing, fast.’
And
‘Looking around today I’ve never seen so many glum faces. Young and old, heads shaking wondering what the hell is going on. Crowds will continue to plummet sadly. We’re Scunthorpe United FFS, we do have a way of playing and this most certainly isn’t it. Worrying times ahead.’
Iron Bru Podcast:
‘Like watching two huge turds sliding down the pan.’
And
‘I don’t think Butler will turn it around. He’s a busted flush and Curzon are threatening to run away with it. It is simply a matter of when, not if, he gets the boot.’
With the latter quote in mind the new manager will have some serious work to do. Going to inherit a lop-sided squad with few (fit) wide options. We’ve taken some giant strides backward in terms of the teams footballing ability. Butler has managed to coach good footballers (for NLN) into players unable to make simple 6 yard passes. Jimmy-ball now seems like a distant dream. Automatic promotion seems like a mountain to climb but would not be impossible if the board act swiftly!
December 1, 2024 at 5:09 pm #294970All(I think) of our current squad have, through their careers, shown the ability to play at least one level above where we now find ourselves. The fact that they now struggle to match, never mind master, part time triers speaks volumes. Maybe if the best players were selected in their best positions in a system with which they are comfortable they might show their true ability. Sadly there is little sign of that happenimng any time soon.
December 1, 2024 at 6:10 pm #294971You missed out a tweet yesterday from Iron Bru, 414. I’ll echo that one.
December 1, 2024 at 6:41 pm #294972His assessments on formations? I think Bru has a point there.
December 1, 2024 at 6:50 pm #294973An assessment of Leeds Iron. Since been deleted.
