Iron Bru › Forums › Blast Furnace › First ACTUAL positive on leaving the EU
Amongst all the woolly coulds, mights, maybes, and probablys, we have our first 100% positive:
Tampon tax will be zero from the April budget.
Previously, or: during the last 47 years, the EU has insisted we levy VAT on sanitary products, deeming them “luxury items”.😠
It used to be 17.5%, then lowered to 5%,but could go no lower while we remained a member of the odious club.
HAPPY new year, remainers.
What’s positive about that for the majority of football fans?. Please remove to non football.

This is a falsehood, and I agree with Awaywego.

This is going to shock a lot of people but this is not actually true. I know, it’s incredible, a misleading story about membership of the EU. Who would have thought it?

Well said!
Although we do seem to have a number of players who are in for one week, then out for the next three.
Well there you go…and here’s me having believed you lot when you told me the BBC were honest.😅😅😅😅
Although I agree that I’ve posted in the wrong place, the assertions above that the EU will scrap this nasty tax too are just more could, might, may from remainers.
At least have the decency to applaud the UK decision?
We could have done this in or out of the EU. It’s up to the governments to decide, and the damnation should be on them over this.
One strange thing about many Brexiters is that they whine about the EU governing our laws then complain when they can’t or won’t if it can be used to bash the EU.
Anyway, this is it from me on this thread, since I don’t want the football section to get too bogged down with non-football patter.
Is that one nil to Tampax utd I will leave the opposition to others
One thing Alcy, if it’s saving you money at least it will make you happy.
Alcy, what about the current government which voted against a proposal to scrap VAT on sanitary products in 2015? Or does that not fit your narrative?
Maintaining the Tampon Tax was a Tory policy…(see link below)
