Literally, judging by the state of their pitch on the FA Cup highlights. Thank goodness we don’t have problems in that regard. ‘Mr Sandman, bring me a dream…’
I watched the match and although we complain about our pitch theirs is a quagmire I was surprised the ref let the match continue
I got the impression it’s a recent deterioration though, with the high levels of rain. Our pitch was pathetic one game in to the season!
It was good to get 70s flashbacks of mudbath games on the telly anyway. Character building for those southern Jesse premiership boys who’ve never had a speck of dirt on them.
The FA provided an inflatable cover which was put up on Thursday to protect the pitch leading up to the game yesterday which apparently had an adverse effect. If that had been a league game it would never have started but I suppose money talks.I thought it was a great game to watch just like the pitches from years ago and every player got stuck in.
The state of the pitch meant the game was more lottery than football match which would probably have favoured the Cods , if the pitch had been in immaculate condition I suspect Wolves would have won the game comfortably by several goals but it was fun watching everyone sliding about and getting blathered up, not a football match in reality more a football mud wrestling match, really funny watching everyone sliding about at times.
Only saw the highlights, but it was entertaining enough. Haven’t seen that much mud in a goal mouth for decades. A lot of fin cleaning needed after that!
Also, never seen Blunder Park looking so down at heel. It was never glamorous but looks totally neglected.
