Confirmed Maxi has gone, rejected our contract offer.
Alarmingly claimed that Maison Campbell will be number one this season. Absolute madness…he was nowhere near good enough in the cup games against lower level opposition last season. Must have had some pre-season so far to now all of a sudden be good enough to be a number one in the National League!
July 4, 2025 at 12:51 am #306379Doesn’t fill me with confidence.
July 4, 2025 at 5:13 am #306382Maybe that’s what fits the budget – for now. Or he has improved?

Maybe we could have afforded a decent NL Keeper instead of spending a large chunk on Beestin…
July 4, 2025 at 8:05 am #306391Concerned,yes Les. When I heard this, gutted was my feeling. I have been wrong in the past hopefully this is another of them, but I don’t feel it will be the case at the moment.
July 4, 2025 at 8:05 am #306392We didn’t spend a large chunk on Beestin.
Going with Campbell as no.1 is a huge concern, Rory Watson all over again.
July 4, 2025 at 8:23 am #306395Concerning but benefit of the doubt given until we see otherwise. New experienced keeper could have come in and been a flop. It happens. Good luck Maison. Smash it.

July 4, 2025 at 8:39 am #306396You’d expect that the new keeper we bring in as cover has the necessary experience to step in if Maison needs a break

Never get this anti Beestin line trotted out by some, yeah it’s all about opinions and in mine Beestin was excellent for us last season and certainly was the fittest he has ever been for us, he got a knock towards the last quarter of the campaign but so did Whitehall, that’s just the nature of football but Alfie’s fitness helped him through the injury late on and he like Whitehall contributed massively towards the end despite both playing with injuries strapped up.

July 4, 2025 at 10:03 am #306401Hopefully AB was ribbing us on the GK front. To go from one of the better GK’s in the lower leagues to then place a rookie in goal is a risk.
Campbell won’t be facing hard opposition in the friendlies that’s for sure.In Butler we trust. Top half finish with a rookie in goal we’d be happy.

Privy to Alfie’s contract negotiations were you?
July 4, 2025 at 11:15 am #306407Remember when Musslewhite was a rookie in goal? He turned out to be very good. When you are so young a lot of the problems are down to confidence. One thing that won’t help that is writing him off before a ball is kicked

July 4, 2025 at 12:48 pm #306422Not a case of writing him off, more about only having one keeper on the books.
Andy Boyce can’t really be our back-up CB, CF and GK can he?
July 4, 2025 at 5:36 pm #306447Don’t worry, he can kick a ball almost to the oppositions 18 yard line. Apparently that’s what makes a brilliant goalkeeper!

I don’t think that anyone is denying we need competition but it is writing Maison off as a first choice keeper. Butler will know the risks and he will get advice from Musselwhite and it his decision
July 4, 2025 at 6:42 pm #306455Give him a chance
If it goes well Butler in if it goes wrong Butler out
If we finish mid table this season we will have done well all this play offs etc got to be having a laugh will be more than happy to be proved wrong thoughJuly 4, 2025 at 7:03 pm #306461Butler inferred survival and sustainability were the goals and not in that order.
July 4, 2025 at 9:44 pm #306466Sounds like he’s Butlers number one, but we’ll bring in a loan player to compete so if Campbell does struggle the loan GK will step in.

He asked a question if you can’t answer it just say so.

Of course not. And the fact that you need to ask means you weren’t either.
Which is why it’s daft to speculate.

No, definitely “were you”.
July 5, 2025 at 6:50 pm #306494People have a certain way of wording a post which is thinly disguised about what they think about a certain player, then again some are blatantly obvious so why don’t they just come out and say it.

Here comes the Lynch Mob!
July 5, 2025 at 9:04 pm #306499Mino Riola has been back in touch. To fend off interest from Eastleigh, Aldershot Town and Wealdstone we agreed an 8k a week contract with Beestin.
That’s where our national league replacement goalkeeper has gone folks.
July 5, 2025 at 9:04 pm #306500No lynch mob just asking you to answer a question put to you by NI, just say it was a daft question to mention Alfie’s wage negotiations when you haven’t a clue and just come out and say you don’t care for Alfie as a player and want him gone. If that’s what you really feel just say it but don’t wrap it up in a pathetic non sensical question.
July 5, 2025 at 9:06 pm #306501…. pathetic non sensical response not question.
July 5, 2025 at 9:11 pm #306504Too serious this forum at times. Please apologise CMC “even if you don’t mean it”. Poor Iron-awe will end up bursting a blood vessel.
