Wondergoal has always just made crap up.It’s how he makes sense of himself,he never let’s the truth get in the way of anything

That’s rich coming from you. Anyway, back on topic. I know there was nothing official stating the length of his contract, but I’m sure I read at the time on twitter that he came on a 2yr contract.

Why would he uproot himself and we pay a fee for somebody who will only be here for just the 1 season ?

Was he signed on a two year contract?

:Paid a fee for Beck and he came on a 2y contract’

Is he? Had to check official club platforms because I don’t recall it being stated as 2 years. Can’t find anywhere saying it is. Permanent contract yes. Maybe I missed some detail about it?

Confirmed in the above interview at 5m30s.
Contracted until end of 25/26 season.

Don’t take it personally WG, I’m sure an apology from 64 will be imminent. Perhaps if our supermods spent more time listening to the information that comes directly from the club rather than picking fights and squabbling like teenage girls with other forum members, they might not need to unnecessarily insult those offering accurate and relevant facts.

Regarding Beck, he’s been woeful thus far, though in fairness we’ve only recently started to play a system which ‘should’ suit him. But watching the miss back from Saturday, Mrs. 414 would have put that away and she’s on a waiting list for a knee op.

Some on FB fans page suggesting he’s the worst player in SUFC history. Perhaps an exaggeration but when you consider the level, I reckon he’s up there.

Maybe Turnbull got wind the axe was about to fall in his direction and Beck on a 2 season deal was his parting gift and a big middle finger to us. Either that or Butler has got zero ability to spot a player (likely given the rest of the summer flops).

On the topic of summer recruits, Brogan didn’t make the bench yesterday, even with a midfield spot opened up by Scales covering at RB. Injured or out of favour?

Cheer up love. Life’s too short for bitterness and fantasies like a Turnbull ‘parting gift’. As I’ve already stated, I have indeed been checking what comes out from the club and I can’t find anywhere it says Beck is on a 2 year deal. Also said maybe I missed something. Can you clarify this 414? You seem to have everything else sussed out.

Already posted the interview where you will find Butler confirm the contract length in my previous post, which in your haste to respond you’ve clearly missed.

Santa not bring you some new reading glasses for Christmas then?

Wasn’t being hasty, just missed the link as I gleaned through your usual death sermon. 18 months then, not 2 years. Thanks for helping to clarify that. Something useful from you for a change. In that case, the coaching team will be best served trying to get a tune out of him as he’s clearly lacking in confidence. Not helped by the amount of stick he’s getting either. I’m sure he knows he must do better. There’s been more remarkable turn arounds in football.

There’s something ironic about iron414 bemoaning squabbling when he makes digs in his posts, provoked or not.

18 months then, not 2 years.

If you want to split hairs it’s 20 months but it’s fairly obvious WG meant 2 seasons rather than 2 calandar years. Whenever have you heard of a player signing a 2 calandar year contract which would see his contract expire in any month other than June or January?

Thanks for helping to clarify that. Something useful from you for a change.

Very welcome. Certainly more factual than anything I’ve ever seen you post on here, despite your 24/7 presence.

Cut our losses and move him on.
The Banjo is out of tune and probably unable to be reset.

All Beck needs is 1 goal to get going, however as he’s not on a 4 yr contract we’re unlikely to see it here.

More fantasy. Barely looked in or posted much the last few weeks. As you were.

I’ve not been impressed by him, but I can’t help feeling that if we actually played to his strengths we might get more out of him.

Well yes. There’s clearly potential goals in there based on some of his previous achievements. People have little patience these days though. Things come too easy and they expect instant gratification. Sad really.

Even Butler’s lost patience with him dropping him to warm the bench and hewas the one who persuaded the club to buy him.

Must admit his first 2 games impressed me and thought it was only a matter of time before he scored hopefully when he does he’ll get an hatful.

Tis all hope rather than certainty though amongst all aspects of all fronts at the moment.

It’s only natural to drop players who are performing badly. Hopefully they can work with him on improving because fans slagging him off constantly isn’t going to help anyone. Apologies for the constructive and positive outlook.

When a manager goes cap in hand to the board for another forward when supposedly the club is strapped for cash, the last thing they’ll want to see is him warming is arse they didn’t sanction it for the coaching team to work with him, he was supposed to be the finished article.

End of the day the fans will only take so much before criticizing just ask Butler from me in the main after 10 games to many many more now.

Totally agree, it’s absolutely fair to criticise. But IMO, as I’ve said on another thread, it’s then only fair to give credit when it’s due. Unfortunately, it’s not a two way street with some supporters.

‘they didn’t sanction it for the coaching team to work with him, he was supposed to be the finished article.’

That’s ludicrous. You’re claiming the Board don’t expect the coaching team to work with the players? Whatever next?! I’ll agree he was supposed to hit the ground running as they threw him straight in. Unfortunately, life’s not always like that. It hasn’t happened yet but could do if they coach it in to him and find a way of getting the best out of him, on the training ground. I’m not terribly confident they will but it’s got to be a better approach than ‘cutting our losses’. Try and find solutions, don’t create more problems.

That miss against Rushall was beyond garbage. Butler desperately wanted him and the board coughed up the money. Unfortunately for us, it’s turned out he’s a modern day Shot Chris Iwelumo.

    He’s a 31 (2/feb/25) year old semi-pro… not an U11.

He’s passed his use by date.

So you’re saying 31 year old players don’t need coaching Rene? You must have a screw loose. How do you think strikers recover from periods of bad performance? Sit around on their X Box all day hoping the spark will return by osmosis? Potty.

‘He’s passed his use by date.’

He hasn’t. You just like the way it looks when you type it.

At 31, he is what he is. You can’t change him. 28 is deemed to be a players ‘peak’.
Banjo will have most likely being training since he was about 6 years old – so he’s had 25 years of coaching, drills, s&c work, development plans etc… do you think he’ll metamorphosise in to a Golden Boot winner with 4 months (Feb-May) of ‘coaching’ from our novice manager?

Your fickleness knows no bounds. You’ll invent some other lazy sound bite for him if he turns his game around. Just like you do when the team perform well. Are you that blinkered you’ve never considered players can benefit from mental coaching when they’re underperforming? Do you think coaching is as black and white as drills, s and c work, etc? I guess not. But hey, carry on with your latest bete noire painting. If you’re not boring me senseless wanging on about Declan effin Howe, you’re having frequent pops at our own striker. Support the team. Support the players. They read the stuff you publish.

Here you go – you’re never too old to learn. Possibly.

Whatever happens unless we do get promoted (Danny might be persuaded to stay) he’s likely to our main striker next season taking for granted Roberts will move to an higher league. And goes without saying everybody will be behind him, well at least at the games, don’t matter what’s said on here.

Flick of a switch and like I’ve said before could have 6 goals in his first 2 games.
    Funny old game.

If the suggestion is that Butler has the ability to mentally ‘unblock’ our strikers maybe he should have worked his magic on Carlton given he’s been ‘coached’ by Butler for the last 7 months and is still yet to register a single goal.

Perhaps you should offer your services as the club shrink seen as you’re so well versed in the subject Deerey. Michelle’s partial to a back office appointment and you seem like you could do with a new gig seen as you’ve spent all day arguing on the forum yet again. Change is as good as a rest, so they say.

What was that about bemoaning others engaging in squabbles like a ‘teenage girl’?

I don’t think you need to be some sort of expert to know that coaching can help players. Even if they are 31.
