Awful, awful, awful. Teams win their games in hand and we could be down to 9th (yes they won’t win them all but we can barely register a shot on target so won’t be picking up many points any time soon either!).

    Butler out.

So bad beyond belief. Evans is hopeless, send Harris back to Spennymoor and get rid of Butler.

Was that Match as shyte as it looked on the Twitter feed? It’s painful seeing us become an established NLN team!

Harris wasn’t that good but was still our best player in the first half at least he looked interested.

No matter how many times the fans berated the players for hoofing it they just didn’t change a thing they don’t seem to give a toss.

Bye na bye we did score shame the ref or linno didn’t give it. Would certainly have had Butler creaming in his pants, what with the clean sheet we got.

Bit hard for us to play anything but hoofball when we have 5 defenders, with ‘wing backs’ who don’t go forward often, 3 forwards and 2 midfielders who have little creativity.

Were there boos at the final whistle or had everyone fallen asleep?

3 big lads up front but nobody to cross the ball for them! Puzzling.

Hoofball up to three forwards, none of whom are wingers and none of whom are forwards that are going to run in behind and play on the shoulder of the last defender. So even if Beck does win his headers, who’s running on to them!?

A baffling formation which is even more baffling with the players asked to play in said formation. Butler has last the plot!

Baffled when I saw the team at 14:00 and debated staying in the pub.

Should have done as the game was exactly what you would expect it to be given the team and formation.

Alfreton’s modus operandi is to try and stop anything resembling football, turn it into a football battle and bring everything down to their level. They are good at this anti football and if they get a weak referee (almost a given in NLN) they get results way beyond their ability.

In what alternative reality would an opposition manager decide mimicking the way Alfreton play would be a good idea? Welcome to planet Butler.

I don’t believe I have ever called for a managers head on here (apart from Keith Hill obviously) but I am sorry. Today we left well meaning incompetence behind and entered a whole new area of stupidity.

He is done. The only thing up for debate is the timescale. If it is longer than a few hours our season is done.

Plenty of opinion online and on Humberside after the game and I have to agree with most of it, comfortably the worst game of football I have seen at the AA. Indeed not even a game just a mixture of hoofball, pointless headers, lack of control and no intent to pass the ball on the floor or attempt to control the game. Poor game between two poor teams and poorly refereed at times , thank goodness it’s over and I’m back home, just dire from start to finish. AB needs a serious rethink because the fanbase are turning on him now for the garbage his team are playing.

I posed the question to the group whom I’m with today.
Which manager tactics were better AB or JD? all were unanimous for the latter.

In-house catering but then let some van have a pitch outside the DRE that’s really clever, and no we don’t need a catering manager to have thought it out properly, waffle van won heads down.

Were there boos at the final whistle or had everyone fallen asleep?

We left with ten minutes to go, it was obvious where the game was heading, better than showing frustration at the end.
The manager is driving a wedge between the fans and players with his ridiculous system.
We play, frightened of letting a goal in. Five at the back, two lost midfielders and three attackers who seem to be running in treacle.
It’s December tomorrow, busy, expensive and supposed to be a time to enjoy, who’s got the time, money or energy for anymore of that crap ?. I certainly haven’t.
So remember, you keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll keep getting what you’re getting.

I’ve tried to be supportive to Andy Butler, but I was wrong. That was the worst game of football I’ve ever seen, and the worst post match interview I’ve ever heard. Butler taking 70 minutes to come out and be interviewed is just being petty to annoy Ollie Turner.

Everything required for a football match was there – A stadium with a pitch correctly marked out and and goals at each end, a football (inflated to the correct pressure judging by the bounces and head tennis games), 2 teams each of 11 players plus a few substitutes, a referee with a working whistle and 2 assistants. There was even some floodlights so everyone could see what was happening. Despite all the necessary ingredients, 98 minutes of pure dross was played out to the 3,500 unfortunate spectators.

Scunthorpe United, unable to string 2 passes together and lashing balls away from their own goal with a carefree cry of “ ‘ave it !” that brought back memories of Deejays Division 6 games on Ashby Ville.
Alfreton, happy to destroy any hopes that a football match might accidentally break out by engaging in a masterclass of time wasting.

What an absolute disaster of a game.

The board need to show some ruthlessness and put relationships aside… yes Butler has given a lot to the club but he’s not cut out for football management.

We’ve learnt nothing from last season, still no width and no plan B… I actually think we’ve gone backwards.

Today Alfreton looked like a pub side, all carrying a bit of weight and all absolutely blowing after an hour yet they still looked quicker and sharper than us… that’s scary!!

No need for 5 at the back!
It offers zero width and has proven to be a football killer.

Let’s get back to basics, 4 at the back, 2 CM and 2 wingers with 2 up top who are actually playing in and around the box waiting for balls to be played into them.

There have been very few examples of getting the ball down and playing this season, however, when we have done it teams can not cope with us.

The standard in this league is absolutely awful, we should be 10-15 points clear!!

The fact we’ve been so bad for so long and we are still top 3 tells you everything about the standard.

    Butler out!!
An experienced manager for the level and above in… Askey!!

I’ve been a season ticket holder for 43 years and today’s game was the worst example of football I have seen in my entire time supporting the club. As soon as I saw the the team I knew it had to be hoof ball and that’s totally unacceptable at home. We couldn’t even do that right. Butler is totally out of depth in this role and the owners need to act now and get rid of him and Schofield now before it’s too late to rescue the season.

Almost feel shell shocked after watching that.

Despite many hammerings we have received over the years, I agree with the above comments and can’t recall a more turgid game of football I’ve seen down at GP

    That was a disgrace.
