In general, I occasionally view other Iron related social media, to see what others who may not contribute to Bru are saying. At present, and without wishing to single anyone or any group out, what is this obsession with giving players grandiose nicknames before they’ve even proven themselves? Personally I don’t think that sends out the right message. I want the players to be striving for betterment and proving themselves on the pitch, not being put on a pedestal like they’re superstars already. I really don’t get it, and I don’t think it’s healthy to be completely honest. Credit and encouragement where it’s due and all that but for goodness sake let them work for it first. Rant over. Please, if you’re going to reply, keep it objective without the personal swipes at other supporters, sites or groups.
I couldn’t agree more. It’s quite difficult to reply, though, without referring to specific culprits or, to be precise, culprit. They are desperate for attention, though their shtick appears to be getting less and less traction. You will always get some poor souls unwittingly feeding the culprit’s ego, but it’s good to see the majority simply ignore the increasingly desperate attempts at gaining attention as self appointed number one fan.
One the main point, new players will prove themselves (or not) over a period of time and matches. I am not about to confer hero status on the basis of a handful of cameo appearances or a cross-cum-shot that finds its way into the net.
