If he’s as good as HE thinks, he’ll get another job.
That’s not quite fair. Butler seems generally aware of the precarious nature of his position, and that losing this job would likely mean he’d have to go back to being a postman, or trying to find other employment of some kind. He said all this in a fairly recent interview with Ollie Turner.
Dear Stan
At this level:
Don’t over analyse the opposition.
Don’t over rely on ‘sports science’ data – use your eyes & experience.
Don’t overthink scenarios.
Don’t over elaborate phases of play.
Don’t take 20 passes to get inside their half.
Don’t over indulge in formations
Don’t make ‘appearance money’ substitutions.
Don’t sit on 1-0 leads.
Don’t tinker.
Do:
Go simple.
Go 4-4-2
Get at them.
Turn em early.
Get the ball forward early & support.
Give the ball as quickly as possible to those that can score – Whitehall, Howe, Gale.
Go with tempo & pace.
Go press high & early.
Go positive.
Go POSITIVE!
Go & win games!
