Season by season progress is what we should measure Butler by to a large extent. He got us promotion from NLN and then to the playoffs in the NL. Next season has to show some progress in terms of position or signs of a rebuild, with promise for the season after, if we struggle with the very likely loss of Roberts.
Any major slump will be what makes me doubt Butler and, unfortunately, I don’t think he has the temperament to deal with the pressure of that, given comments when doing well gets him irate and making digs. It wouldn’t just be toxic Bru doom mongerers picking at him if we’re in a slump next season and telling everyone to stay away won’t cut it. He should let the results do the talking and it has been mostly positive on that front.
