For the avoidence of doubt – I do not want Butler out. However I do want him to learn. He insists that his system is working and seems determined to continue its use. His view that “We are top of the league” justifies his opinion, the last 4 games don’t.
1.” We weren’t on our game, we were off the pace, we lost concentration, we weren’t good enough” etc is OK occasionally but not after every game.
2. His preferred starting 11 is almost exclusively last seasons team. Rowley and Grogan were playing a league higher but don’t often start, have either yet played a full league game? Were they not Butler’s choice?
3. We have 3 FBs but no WBs, if you have FBs use them, if you want WBs get some.
4. Some of the players are not good enough, some have time, others might have peaked and some need moving out either temporarily or permanently.
5. He talks about changing tactics during the game but subs seem to be mainly like for like (JD style) unless it’s a MF on for a striker to protect a 1 goal lead. (How well that works)
6. Players switch off when 1 up, under instruction or they think they’ve done enough?
7.Squad is poorly balanced, too many MFs but we’re still lacking in that vital area. Too few fit strikers, another area lacking sufficient quality.
Change what you can Andy and persuade others to change what you can’t. (Quickly or your TOTL excuse will have disappeared.
