It’s alright to put a sign up saying land acquired by Scunthorpe United FC but it isn’t acquired until its paid for and signed up. As we know a price and deal agreed means nothing until its signed and paid for. Let’s be honest our Club is in a right mess at present and many of us supporters don’t trust Swann or Hilton. Neither are on speaking terms and it appears to me they could be playing one another. If Hilton has the money surely it would have made sense to pay Swann and then the stadium and land would be secured. If Hilton doesn’t have the money then how will he pay Onward Holdings for their land and also the other company for the mysterious land supposedly for the training pitch. The man must be nearly a billionaire or its pie in the sky.
Call me old fashioned but I bat with a straight bat. I’m big on detail and if I say that I am going to do something, I do it. If I state something is fact, it needs to be just that. That’s how you build trust.
For all those who are prepared to take Hilton at face value and are willing to place your trust in him as he has requested, how do the following points sit with you?
1) 25/01/23 – Mr Hilton said: “I’m pleased to say the takeover has now been completed, and the deal includes the football club, stadium and surrounding land.” – https://www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/news/2023/january/club-statement/
2) 02/04/23 – Accounts will be filed W/C 03/04/23. Still not filed – https://www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/news/2023/april/-player-an-update-from-david-hilton/
3) 18/05/23 – “The two recently acquired sites at Warren Road and Glebe Road were then discussed and Mr Hilton confirmed that, subject to the relevant planning consents, a new stadium will be erected and hopefully completed in time for the start of the 2025-26 season.” – https://www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/news/2023/may/club-statement-fans-forum/
As of this morning (19/05/23), the land is still owned by Onward Holdings Ltd.
