I’ve over laboured it, I admit.
But it was an enlightening for me.
Previous to that, like many, I had every confidence in Swann, but his removal of the oap concession**, closely followed by the failure of either him or Rodwell to reply to my letters, soured me towards him.
Later on he claimed that he/the club responded to all letters, a blatant untruth, which further lowered my opinion of him.
And once your opinion of someone becomes negative, you start to see other negatives about them too.
** Pedants: I know the oap concession still exists. Swann and Rodwell moved it from 60 to 65.
