I’m going out on a limb here and actually defending Cox.
Sure I am certain that he’s made a few tactical errors, and his squad selection at times leaves me bemused. That is to be expected with an inexperienced manager, regardless of what level they’re plying their trade at.
For me the issue is with the squad as a whole. It lacks cohesion and it is clear to me that whomever put together this team doesn’t really understand the importance of having several experienced players and an on field leader.
With regards to Cox being in charge. Let’s be honest, over the last few seasons we’ve struggled with managerial appointments. Our chairman’s attempt to become a Poundland Roman Abramovich by sacking manager after manager hasn’t really lead to lasting success. With the limited funds available for new players, our current league status, and our chairman’s reputation for sacking managers, I cannot see that we’d have a long list of suitors lined up to take over the reigns from Cox.
For now despite his inexperience and mistakes, I would rather we stood by Cox and what little funds we have in the club are invested into getting a on field leader through the door and not paying off managerial contracts.
