I just wonder about motivation for some of these young players: you’re at a (relatively) big club, earning reasonable money and with little chance of ever being involved in the first team there. Then you get told that you’re going to a club you might never have heard of, miles away from your home, and be expected to play a completely different style of football from the one you’ve been trained to play. I mean, how many Premier League kids are trained to deal with Kevin Ellison (or Newport’s pitch for that matter)?
It doesn’t feel like a recipe for success, so I don’t really understand why we keep going back for more.
