A host of National League clubs are queuing up to sign striker Aramide Oteh following the expiration of his short-term contract with Braintree Town, according to reports.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke has revealed that the former QPR and Walsall forward is attracting significant interest after a brief but impactful stint in Essex.
Oteh joined Braintree Town late in December on a short-term deal and wasted no time making his mark scoring in a 1-0 victory over Woking. Despite the brevity of his stay, the 27-year-old’s performances earned him a spot in the National League Team of the Week.
Scunthorpe United fans will be familiar with Oteh, who also spent time on trial at Glanford Park earlier this season.
The striker featured and scored for the Iron in their National League Cup fixture against Newcastle United Under-21s in December, however a permanent move failed to materialise at the time.
Iron boss Andy Butler later confirmed that the deal collapsed due to logistical issues rather than footballing ability, revealing that the club were unable to offer the necessary accommodation to get the deal over the line.
With the logistical hurdles at Scunthorpe previously being a stumbling block, it remains to be seen if the Iron will reignite their interest now that Oteh is available again.
However, they are unlikely to be alone. O’Rourke reports that “a number of National League sides” are actively chasing the forward, hoping to secure his services for the remainder of the campaign.
