Or me!
I scored from the halfway line in a 4-0 win over Hellenic circa 1980.
And who can forget Andy Keogh’s at Carlisle?
Five a side halfway lines don’t count NI, lol.
11 a side, full pitch Newcastle Corinthian League Cup.
For anyone who follows golf the pitches were at Close House which is now a prestigious golf course and hotel. Had our wedding reception there in ‘82.
Once around a dozen football, rugby and hockey pitches there. All gone now. On a Saturday afternoon there would be the best part of 200+ people involved in sport. Now there’s probably about a dozen golfers.
And on the other side of the city my son and his wife have just bought a house on a small estate that was built on a pitch where I played in a cup final around the same time.
Should get some blue plaques sorted out really.
I scored from the halfway line when I was about 12. Dined on that for about 3 years. Not bad considering it wasn’t even a shot.
I played in goal at Lincoln Racecourse and scored straight out of my hands, just luck and favourable conditions
I was in goal and was beaten from the opponents half. Windy, wet and many other excuses that escape me now. Very lucky Keith Robinson, never a shot more a hoofed clearance.
Right age but a Southern Softie so no.
(I wish I had played at that level but I was Sunday league Division 6!)
