Worrying times that can only lead to misery and chaos.
August 15, 2025 at 8:13 pm #309883I think I know what this is in reference to. Both were arrested by the police, but one pled guilty based on legal advice and the other didn’t and was tried by jury. If the one who pled guilty went by jury, they might too have been found not guilty, but their legal team advised against it. Maybe they shouldn’t have done.
August 15, 2025 at 9:07 pm #309888Perhaps the one suggesting people attack vulnerable people thought she’d get less sympathy than someone suggesting racists who think setting fire to hotels is protest deserve retribution ?
August 15, 2025 at 9:27 pm #309891I don’t think either should have been calling for violence or death threats against anyone. Not even against people with dodgy views.
August 15, 2025 at 11:17 pm #309893My mistake Siderite, after your explaination I now understand the public’s concern with a two- tier justice system is ungrounded. Thanks for putting me right, much appreciated.
August 15, 2025 at 11:26 pm #309894It’s how the courts have always worked. Plead guilty and you will be found guilty. Don’t and there’s a chance you might be found not guilty. I happen to think Lucy’s sentence was too harsh, and Ricky should have been found guilty, but ideally there should be consistency between cases. The system has flaws, though, we haven’t found much better ways than jury verdicts, allowing people to plead guilty and differences in legal advice. As one pleaded guilty and one didn’t, it can cause a mismatch in outcome. They were both arrested and charged by the police, so there isn’t any two-tier there. The police or state have no influence over a jury decision and given your views on totalitarian states, I would be surprised if you thought the state having a greater say over court verdicts as a good thing.
August 16, 2025 at 7:17 am #309895It could be said that there has always been a two tiered justice system, in fact multi tiered.
Black-white, young-old, rich-poor.No-one should be calling for violence.
August 16, 2025 at 12:32 pm #309900Rich people are more likely to get off in a jury system as they can afford lawyers, and plenty of them. I bet the people arrested because the government proscribed a protest this weekend will be more than worried ,people also got more than this vile racist woman for super gluing themselves to roads. The right wing loons agreed with those sentences.Remembervthis ,they only only started crying about two tier justice when their racist pals got ,what were in fact quite light sentences for try to burn refugees in hotels and rioting .They too got lesser sentences than M25 climate protesters. Everyone I’ve seen on twitter bleeting about this who hasn’t locked their profile is obsessed with not having brown neighbours and would dink a boat of desperate humans.Theyre scum and deserve longer sentences, they’re turning Britain into a battle ground over hatred. They hate foreigners Ricky hates the haters,I know who I prefer

This caused Conservative and Reform politicians to brand the decision “two-tier justice”
I wonder if they would have done had it not been a Labour councillor?
August 18, 2025 at 6:36 am #310026Even vile recidivist’s get away with it if they’re racists rioters,https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/ashamed-greggs-looter-fired-extinguisher-during-hull-rioting/ar-AA1KG8g0?ocid=entnewsntp&pc=LCTS&cvid=13fd3778affb46628466b060e9ab34ef&ei=68
