Don’t think we’ll be cooking up a lamb casserole today, narrow defeat I reckon.
I meant narrow defeat for Tamworth of course. LOL!
Great start to the season. Pass me that mint sauce!
Mint sauce the new taste sensation, great start Iron well done.

August 9, 2025 at 6:26 pm #309417We genuinely looked as if we may be a plausible NL side. WELL done AB!
GK fine. Great save at the end.
Ref – 7. Got a large % right.
Only complaint – who let that ball bounce in the area when they scored?
Starbuck my MOTM. Looked really comfortable. Indeed, nobody had a below par game.
I am encouraged!
Tamworth 10th was it, last season?1 user thanked author for this post.
August 9, 2025 at 6:27 pm #309418Another wow .. no Denton or Dawson
Or Watson!! 7 subs & no keeper?
August 9, 2025 at 6:31 pm #309422Pleased for Mason, sounds like he did ok, just give this kid a chance and get behind him.

Boyce would have stepped in if Campbell got injured. Belehouan on bench.
I expect Rory will feature against the Mackems on Tuesday.
August 9, 2025 at 6:41 pm #309426Rory needs to figure Tuesday night, Mason needs keeping on his toes all season long, should keep him sharp.
August 9, 2025 at 7:47 pm #309434Was at the game and even though it wasn’t pretty, that was a great result. Two fantastic goals from us!
Got to say though that Campbell is an absolute liability. Flapped at everything that went near him in the air and should not have let that ball bounce on his 6 yard line for their goal. Decent enough save at the end but nothing that no other goalkeeper should be letting past them.
For their goal though…there is absolutely no way that the ball crossed the line, will be interesting to see a replay!
P.s. what a find Ewing may turn out to be, our best player by a mile.

August 9, 2025 at 9:18 pm #309441Just got back and have to say well done Andy Butler.
I was convinced he would go 5 at the back and try to nil his way to a point.
Brave set up to match them and it paid dividend. Fitter, stronger and harder working than the lambs.
Well deserved 3 points and a better away performance than we managed in about 20 of last seasons away games.

The kid is on his league debut against a tough side, away from home and his team has won and the only goal conceded you say didn’t even cross the line !
And you’re still having a dig at him, he’s our keeper.
Well done to AB, Campbell and the rest.12 users thanked author for this post.
August 9, 2025 at 10:24 pm #309446Yes Campbell flapped at a couple early doors but made 2 good saves the one at the end should give him loads of confidence, nice that Butler made him come and take his applause by himself at the end, half decent game all were ok overhall, Danny and Roberts had quite games but great free kick and the dummy he did for Ewings goal sublime.
Ewing was pure class and Howe wasn’t far behind him put a really good shift in.
Tamworth one trick ponies nothing there other than the long throws.
One of the best away performances I’ve seen for a long while and got what we deserved.
Plenty of cods on the train and virtually ignored each other, not one song not one bit of abuse. Didn’t meet them on the way home though.
Great day had by all onwards and upwards.2 users thanked author for this post.
August 9, 2025 at 10:52 pm #309447Yes strange how Maisons nemesis on here fails to mention he is one of four nominees up for motm on the Facebook page, just give the lad a chance and support him FFS and leave the negativity aside whilst he beds himself into this team and a permanent place in mens football.

August 10, 2025 at 5:22 am #309465Howe really impressed. His movement was so nippy that the Tamworth defence kept losing their shape.

August 10, 2025 at 6:48 am #309472Not sure how constantly criticising a young keeper is supporting him. The management have see him every day in training, so think he’s good enough.
Plenty of young goalkeepers have some nervy moments, Sam Johnstone did with us. Pleased Campbell made an encouraging start and Butler’s prioritised spending his budget on an array of attacking players.1 user thanked author for this post.
August 10, 2025 at 9:38 am #309492To be fair to put Maison up for motm is a joke in itself, he should be buzzing though the support he got, bit over the top at times for simple collections but for his first league game and a save at the end to keep the extra 2 points the lad can be proud.
Like I’ve said before Beck is becoming a cult hero anyone there could see and hear the over the top support he’s getting, and to be fair to him he came on and won every header and not his fault most weren’t picked up by our players he just did his job.

August 10, 2025 at 12:57 pm #309509Echo the comments above; thought we showed early on we could spray the ball about abit and played some neat stuff, inevitably it was always going to descend into a slugfest with their tactics and awful pitch.
We looked fit, sharp and desperate for the 3 points; I was happy with what I saw today. Individually impressed with Howe Ewing and starbuck, however my MOTM would go to Boycey.
For a league debut I thought Campbell did what was required- great save at the end to boost his confidence. Coming out for crosses and showing assertiveness in the box will come with time- he’s a big lad and needs to assert that physicality. Great reception for him at the end and I hope he enjoyed the moment.

August 10, 2025 at 9:47 pm #309542August 11, 2025 at 9:44 am #309570Didn’t run that through spell check did they?
Rob-erts again, ole, ole!
August 11, 2025 at 10:17 am #309571Agree about Boyce for man of match. Set the standard from the start. Won the first few headers decisively and dominated the opposition forwards.

August 11, 2025 at 10:38 am #309573I think a certain brilliant leave by Whitehall should get an assist.

August 11, 2025 at 11:09 am #309576Yes, Roberts gets the assist but I’m sure his pass was meant for Whitehall. I’m also pretty sure that Roberts would say I’m wrong. (Sounds a bit like the wife!!)

August 11, 2025 at 11:29 am #309577Nice start to the season with a confidence boosting win.
It won’t be an easy season but think we’d all be happy with mid-table and above.
August 11, 2025 at 1:06 pm #309584I see Maison made the National League Team of the Week. Not bad for a supposed flapping liability.
August 11, 2025 at 3:29 pm #309601Yes, Roberts gets the assist but I’m sure his pass was meant for Whitehall. I’m also pretty sure that Roberts would say I’m wrong. (Sounds a bit like the wife!!)
Oli said in the post match interview he gave Danny a shout and he let it through, brilliant finish to round off a good team goal, if that standard continues through the season we are in for some cracking entertainment.

August 12, 2025 at 11:00 pm #309757I agree with CT about Butler’s starting XI, which I think he will change when we go 2-0 down. A much more fluid 442 will allow us to come back into the game and snatch a draw (2-2)! UTI!
Tamworth are not scoring more than one. Convinced of that.
Just remembered this post. I thang you.
