If Mr Butler is happy with it then it will not change so all you terrace coaches get behind Maison and help him, our fans have always helped when a player needs it.
Aye. A lot of ‘noise’ about Maison that isn’t usefully criticising whilst pointing out his weak area, but literally demanding he be dropped and calling him useless, shit, etc. Some posters on social media including those from the Bru family should stop and evaluate what they’re posting in haste in my opinion.

August 24, 2025 at 11:04 am #310309Everyone is entitled to an opinion but id wager the vast majority of those slamming Campbell were the same ones foaming at the mouth about Butler last year and wanting him gone before Xmas. They are probably the same ones who had the pitch forks ready after the app frod pre season game calling butler every name under the sun.
Patience required, for now.

August 24, 2025 at 11:49 am #310310And what was wrong with wanting Butler out before Xmas the football was shite to watch, improved when Michelle had a word after the Marine win and yes he got us up which was all important.
Improved up to now this season Tamworth alone was better than any away game last season still going to challenge his choice of goalie which I have done since pre season and nothing’s changed my mind on him up to now and how ever much I want him to not make the clangers he’s making he still does, so in turn will question Butler.August 24, 2025 at 1:35 pm #310311Harsh on Campbell. It was only half a mistake really.
It was a crowded box, he had to come through bodies. He got something on it just not enough.
When the play is that congested in the 6 yard box it’s hard for a keeper – ideally they want their centre halves attacking the ball rather than have commit to a bit of a lottery coming through bodies.
He did make a couple of good saves late on so you might say he didn’t have a bad game.
He also made a crucial save at Tamworth late on and prior to the error against Woking was having a solid enough game (and it didn’t cost us anything apart from a clean sheet).
If every player is going to be castigated for every single error or half error they make then it will be a long and miserable season. They are all playing 5th tier football for a reason.
Judge him when he’s had a dozen or so games on the bounce. Whether he is of the standard remains to be seen but he seems to be getting unnecessarily hammered on fairly scant evidence over a very short period of time.

August 24, 2025 at 1:36 pm #310312The outcome of last season answers your first question.
Give Will Evans’ interview on Humberside a listen; he puts his point across more eloquently than I could.
August 24, 2025 at 2:30 pm #310314Well put apb.
August 24, 2025 at 2:35 pm #310316I judge on what I see every game apb or majority of reports.
I believe I’m pretty fair and don’t hold grudges against certain players ala 64 and others especially when it comes to Whitehall.
Fair to criticize Banjo overall✓ fair to criticize Carlton for 3/4 of the season, said I wouldn’t have played Evans again after his Almighty cock up at Southport but went on to say he was absolutely awesome for us after Xmas.
Do I want him to play tomorrow 100% I do, and sure give him at least 10 games, like I say he appears to be a lucky goalie for the team.
But let’s not dress things up to be anything more than they are he’s made a piss poor start, is that not fair to say.August 24, 2025 at 3:38 pm #310319Surely a piss poor start doesn’t include the late saves yesterday which a lot of fans are applauding him for? Don’t think you can have it both ways, we win our first three games and late saves by Maison against Tamworth and Sutton have allowed that to happen, always two sides to every story. Yes he’s made mistakes but they haven’t cost us games and yes his saves in two of those three games have enabled us to win, facts are facts, so far the facts support him as doing ok.

August 24, 2025 at 7:26 pm #310320Whatever AB said in the post match interview – I carefully examined the footage again and again and couldn’t see why a good punch couldn’t have been made. Okay – not easy – but straight onto the scorer’s noggin had only one outcome.
Their second goal – for me – the near post not adequately covered. It was a good strike, though.
Have watched these two goals repeatedly and can’t be anything other than edgy.
I really am wanting to be positive here. Nice lad. Loadsa pressure on him. Don’t want him to feel picked on. Don’t want him to be depressed. But let’s be honest, ordinary fans – not prophets of doom – have been predicting what has been happening since the Number One Keeper announcement.
I’d give him one last go and if it goes pear-shaped – we’ll need to introduce a man with a bit more keeping experience and hope for the best.
I do really want him to have a belter against Halifax to rebuild confidence.August 24, 2025 at 7:53 pm #310321What absolute tosh. We’ve won 3 games and you want ro have a go about the keeper

August 24, 2025 at 8:19 pm #310322You prepared to give Maison one last go is very noble and generous of you les, more proof for me to say thank goodness AB is manager and you aren’t les. I’m just being an honest ordinary fan here BTW.

August 24, 2025 at 9:26 pm #310323Fitz would have done worse
August 24, 2025 at 9:56 pm #310324I’m sorry but both those goals were down to poor marking by our much vaunted centre backs, are we seriously expected to blame the keeper for a poor defensive header and two unmarked strikers for the 1st and 2nd goal respectively.Give over Les,it was awful defending not poor keeping .

August 24, 2025 at 11:53 pm #310325I find it strange that Fitz’s howler for the Chester goal in the play off final is never mentioned. I’d presumed because we won. Thus, While we are winning I’m prepared to extend the same goodwill to Campbell.
August 25, 2025 at 12:08 am #310326Maybe it’s never mentioned because Fitz most certainly did not make a howler in the playoff final vs Chester. Just a thought like.
August 25, 2025 at 9:40 am #310333Fitz would have done worse
I presume this is a joke because it’s clearly “unprovable” This consistent doing down of the best keeper (by some way) in the NLN last season is becoming tedious. He’s not a world beater but he’s good, better than we have now, and deserving of a step up to the EFL.

August 25, 2025 at 9:49 am #310336His misplaced passes would have been punished massively in this higher division ,especially as we’re now less defensively minded.A cardboard cut out could have got clean sheets in our negative tactics last year.
As for doing him down,I’m just saying he’s not in our best ever keeper list as some suggest he is .August 25, 2025 at 10:26 am #31033826 clean sheets told some sort of story.

He was arguably the best passer in last seasons team when our passing was sometimes very poor. I don’t recall him giving the ball away in dangerous areas often, if at all, but you probably saw more games than I did.
August 25, 2025 at 10:47 am #310340So the misplaced ones didn’t happen? A bit like people not remembering our super striker played in most of the games in our bad patch when they were screaming for Butler’s head
August 25, 2025 at 11:44 am #310346So the misplaced ones didn’t happen?
Where did I say that?

You really do talk utter codswallop. He was out injured for a lot of those games and it also coincided with signing Beck and then playing a returning Whitehall as a bizarre no.10. His two goals off the bench away at Marine arguably ended that bad patch and saved our season.
