Don’t encourage bad habits Rene!

August 23, 2025 at 4:27 pm #310261Shame Alfie had to go off. Was running the show with Ewing – or Erwin as he is known in Sutton.
Yeah, seems Beestin was running the game.
I think we’ll get another.
Sutton 2-3 Iron will do, but I feel that we’ll get that fourth.
August 23, 2025 at 4:28 pm #3102623-2 Iron
Safe travels have a good day allBang on the mark if it ends up as it is.

P3 W3
Happy days… except it seems we’ve being involved in the battle of the Somme?August 23, 2025 at 5:00 pm #310265Lost our midfield apart from Erwin.
August 23, 2025 at 5:01 pm #310266I’m sure that I could hear Rene shouting for Sutton in that last 16 minutes.
August 23, 2025 at 5:09 pm #310269Hope Butler sticks with Maison if nothing else he’s proving a lucky goalkeeper for us, go out with the attitude that we’ve got to score one more than them because of the circumstances.
Rory was never that lucky.1 user thanked author for this post.

August 23, 2025 at 5:47 pm #310271Any thoughts on the Roberts booking?
August 23, 2025 at 5:48 pm #310272Whilst we are winning or drawing most games and don’t go on a losing run with Maison getting the blame for some vital goals conceded then AB will give the lad every chance and quite right too IMO. He’s only ever going to learn by playing games and gaining experience and if he’s showing some errors then they can be worked on with the coaching staff. It’s not ideal but the budget is what it is and AB has made his choice so we just need to support the lad as much as possible, if changes in the future need to be made then AB will implement them if he deems it necessary.

Personally, I thought it was an orange.August 23, 2025 at 5:58 pm #310274I’m sure that I could hear Rene shouting for Sutton in that last 16 minutes.
Not me, IFA had 3-3
I had 3-1 to us.

August 23, 2025 at 6:00 pm #310275If Maison doesn’t work out then maybe we should cut our losses and get rid of Muzzie as well, his coaching at the moment doesn’t seem to be improving the lad, the money we save on his wages should go along way to get another experienced goalie in.

Rory was never that lucky.Plenty of goals in our forward & midfield players.
We’ll score one more than you,

A goalkeeper shouldn’t need to learn how to catch and punch a ball. Those two things are basic goalkeeping fundamentals, it would have been instilled in him from a young kid.
The fact he’s still struggling to do basic things a goalkeeper should be able to do worries me.
Clearly not ready.
August 23, 2025 at 7:17 pm #310280Maison is dracula 2.0
August 23, 2025 at 8:16 pm #310281Well that was a crackin’ game but we didn’t half make hard work of it, real backs to the walls stuff for the last 20 minutes even with Sutton down to 10.
Campbell made a brilliant double save towards the end, so fair play to the lad for that, but a professional goalkeeper cannot be making a mistake that leads directly to a goal almost every game he plays. Every team will target him with high balls into the box so you’ve just got to hope and pray he’s a fast developer because that part of his game is currently Sunday league standard at best.
August 23, 2025 at 8:22 pm #310283Any thoughts on the Roberts booking?
Can see why he got booked, there was contact but it was Roberts who caused it by dangling his leg out to try and fool the ref.

August 23, 2025 at 8:25 pm #310285Well as AB said at the forum he has lots of advice from people who have lots of different opinions and they are absolutely entitled to them but in the end his opinion is the only one that matters. We shall see what transpires over the season regarding the team and Campbell in particular and what AB makes of it all.
August 23, 2025 at 8:50 pm #310288Butler will stick his head in the sand as the daft pillock publicly declared Maison was his number one without even seeing him as first choice in pre season.
I suspect he’ll give him too many chances because if he brings another keeper in, he’s admitting he was wrong. We saw this play out last season with the 5 at the back, he was stubborn for too long then too.
I hope I’m wrong and Maison comes good, but I can’t see it, and pretty sure no many other fans can either. Only terrifying thing is that we have Watson to take the reigns. I wouldn’t call him a safe pair of hands by any means.
August 23, 2025 at 9:06 pm #310291Just playing devil’s advocate: might another keeper who’s better in the air have clangered those two important stops he did make in the second half, but made the catch or decent punch Maison obviously didn’t? 2 saves to 1 in Maisons favour. Fitz wasn’t infallible. Just saying like.
August 23, 2025 at 10:25 pm #310292Just got home wish I had placed a bet anyway on to Monday no messing 4-1 Iron just start believing ladies and gentlemen we are going up

Not convinced by the keeper by any means , however Butler has more than enough credit in the bank in my eyes for us to show a little faith.
Fantastic result and start to the season; Butler has built a side that continues to find ways to win.
Hope it can encourage a few more down on Monday for a bumper attendance.

August 24, 2025 at 6:57 am #310297I was amazed that we were so messy as we faced down the ten men. Sutton had looked seriously mediocre and then played as if they were the ones with the extra man.
They pulled us all over the pitch in the latter stages and holes in our defensive structure kept on opening up.2 users thanked author for this post.
August 24, 2025 at 9:10 am #310298“keeper ,keeper keeper Blah Blah Blah” Were playing a more attacking game ,which we all wanted. It’s a pity the likes of Burney can’t forgive Butler for getting promoted last season so are focussing on a non issue . We’re winning, we’re good to watch and attack a hell of a lot.It will leave gaps at the back. Do you really want to go back to a stupidly deep sitting wasted player just so the keeper can become a hero?

August 24, 2025 at 9:25 am #310301If Mr Butler is happy with it then it will not change so all you terrace coaches get behind Maison and help him, our fans have always helped when a player needs it.

August 24, 2025 at 9:52 am #310302We’re not coaches just fans , just see and hear the reception he will get on monday but then it’s down to him again.
There’s only so many times that fans will clap and say heads up Maison go again.“Keeper keeper keeper blah blah blah” really 64 after all you’ve said about Fitz, non issue your a bloody joke man.
And to think that the problem is leaving gaps at the back lol.August 24, 2025 at 10:21 am #310305never claimed he was a bad keeper, merely pointing out that claims he’s Pat Jennings and Peter Shilton rolled into one are ridiculous and exaggerating his ability as Ironking did in his thread in order to demean our new young keeper is wrong. His career suggest number 2 and I saw nothing last year to see him rise too far up the league at any other level
