If Watson’s Dracula that must make Campbell, Buffy.
July 20, 2025 at 7:57 pm #307305Wrexham & Donny fans wouldn’t recognise him.

July 20, 2025 at 8:01 pm #307306Thing about predictions are, they often come back to bite you on your arse. As a fair number on here found out last season.
July 20, 2025 at 8:48 pm #307312York lost 8 games in all of last season, Rory started in only 6 of them and 2 of them were losses.
His stats never desert him. Poor team in front of him or good team in front of him, it’s him for whatever reason.July 20, 2025 at 9:19 pm #307315To small a sample size to draw any conclusions I’m afraid.
On that metric Dave Nugent is the best striker to have ever played for England.
July 20, 2025 at 9:23 pm #307316Bringing Watson back is all just a ploy by Butler et al. to distract us from Campbell being earmarked as our esteemed no.1. It’s the only logical reason (and is kinda working).

July 21, 2025 at 2:48 am #307320Can’t have been that bad – Wrexham, Donny and York were all more than happy to have him.
Look at their league standings currently and their collective promotion records over that period.
Tenuous argument given he never got a game with either Donny or Wrexham. In fact his injury cover games for York are the only games he has ever had at a full time professional club apart from the Iron – and York have just shipped him out for the season without recall.
Looks like they have a better back up option.
On the evidence of my eyes and many games for the Iron he does make some great saves but he is poor with crosses, nervous with the ball at his feet and piss poor at distribution.
It wouldn’t be quite so scary if Maison had shown he was any better.
I predict neither will be first choice by Christmas.
With the fickle mentality of football clubs to sack managers nowadays whose to say AB might not be here by Christmas if it goes pear shaped early.

Debt (?)
Budget
No mega millionaire proprietors
Cheap option
AB – medium term guardian
He’ll be here for a while – even if we were relegated; which, we won’t be.July 21, 2025 at 9:18 am #307327I saw Alan O Meara play he was without doubt the worst keeper ever
Len Bond was on loan from Bristol City, O Meara came in until Glen Letheran was signed on loan from Leeds.
O Meara was so bad, Ron Ashman brought Geoff Barnard out of retirement to replace him whence Letheran went back
I my memory of 50 years ago serves correct!

September 24, 2025 at 11:32 pm #311554Let’s get this topic back to the top of the charts.
Another very good performance from RW. Comfortably the man of the match and kept them in the game long enough to salvage a point.
All admirers and detractors are invited to re-read their words of wisdom as to his capabilities.

He had a good performance Forest Green, but flapped at a cross and cost us a goal. Against Boreham he played well. The save when he prevented an own goal was impressive. The other saves were at fairly good heights for him to save and looked fairly routine.
I still think there are too many mistakes in him personally, but he’s much, much better than Campbell. That I won’t question. Interesting apb that you appear when he’s played well while perched upon your high horse.
I can’t remember seeing any comments from you after he completely fecked the cross up against Forest Green and cost us a goal.
September 25, 2025 at 8:01 am #311559You’d blame him if your wife burnt your breakfast toast
September 25, 2025 at 8:20 am #311560Agreed apb – definitely worth a move up the charts after his latest showing. No miming either :)
On a more serious note – if he’s ineligible for York away, who plays in goal?
September 25, 2025 at 9:24 am #311563Kian Johnson.
September 25, 2025 at 9:46 am #311565Butler suggested Maison fit for Saturday in his Humberside post match.

September 25, 2025 at 10:03 am #311566I’ll have a listen. Thanks
September 25, 2025 at 11:28 am #311569Nice to see him playing reasonably well by all accounts, keep it up Rory.

This is an atrocious example of the sexist attitudes demonstrated by today’s far right.
September 25, 2025 at 4:56 pm #311575Rory could rightly consider himself hard done by if he were dropped on Saturday.
Done more than enough in 5 games to keep the shirt
September 25, 2025 at 5:24 pm #311576Though Maison will need to play against York anyway so maybe Saturday will help him warm up for that?
September 27, 2025 at 5:19 pm #311663Aaaaand another solid display and clean sheet from Rory…

September 27, 2025 at 5:25 pm #311665Is it time for supporters sceptical about our keepers to concede a football coach / manager may actually know better than them?

September 27, 2025 at 5:44 pm #311670Will all depend on whether Maison remains to be the number 1 goalie.

Yeah, but he flapped for a cross v Forest Green, so the good performances and few goals conceded don’t count.

September 27, 2025 at 5:51 pm #311674Hope Fitz is coming in for the York game.

September 27, 2025 at 6:35 pm #311678Just seen Fitz played today for Northampton and got man of the match, so I guess that’s out of the window for the York game.
