Until contracts are signed with us or elsewhere, why would the club announce anything. We don’t know if the club has counter offered which might make a player rethink. I also think it’s wrong that Mr Bru is posting on here every-time he gets some inside info. If i worked for the club i would be having a word with my staff regarding the leaking of information and also having a word with Mr Bru. There is no wonder the iron hour guys get more attention from the club than the iron-bru guys.
June 17, 2025 at 11:24 am #305911In this modern world of 24/7 social media posts Joe Public has developed an attitude of self-entitlement regarding access to information.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s true or false as long as they get it ASAP. And that’s not just on football forums!
Some of us remember when it wasn’t official until you read it in the Evening Telegraph, or your Uncle had been in the clubhouse at Forest Pines.

Has it not occurred to you that maybe, just maybe someone at the club passed information to SST, to post on social media?
Maybe that doesn’t suit your narrative though!June 17, 2025 at 11:48 am #305914Until contracts are signed with us or elsewhere, why would the club announce anything. Worst thing is self-appointed ITKs* arguing with each other about if something is true or not

Whall Howe Ubo Cr10 (Dawson)………………………………BeckNow we need a keeper, beef up the midfield and possibly 1 add on to the defense and the makings of a decent bunch to compete in NL.

June 18, 2025 at 2:07 pm #305957Barrows has agreed a short-term deal with the Club with a view to completing his recovery from injury, and being ‘back on the pitch’ by the end of the calendar year…
June 18, 2025 at 2:17 pm #305959Pleased to hear this, and definitely the right thing to do, particularly considering how it happened and the mitigating factors.

A few months back on here, someone shot me down in flames when I suggested it’d be good if the Club did the right thing by Barrows, bearing in mind that, essentially, the state of the pitch caused the injury.

June 18, 2025 at 3:36 pm #305961Did it mention the length of Dawson’s contract?, I don’t think it did, strange two players getting over the same injury although TBF to Dawson, ACL injuries in both knees one after the other is unbelievable bad luck, fingers crossed for both lads this coming season.

To be fair, I should amend my comment about Barrows from “caused the injury” to “was a highly significant factor in the injury”.
I remember it happening, and I’ve watched the footage on Ross Barrows’ social media. Not pleasant. There’d been a couple of conversations around where I sit, about how the pitch might play a part in some sort of injury.
June 18, 2025 at 3:53 pm #305963From memory from my seat in the main stand his boot stuck in the sandy crumbling service and the rest of his leg kept turning. Really nasty, won’t ever forget him shouting out in agony as he did it, the pitch condition was a massive influence on the injury IMO.
June 18, 2025 at 4:02 pm #305964So, that’s Fitzsimons, Barrows and Whitehall not going to Matlock, despite the claims made by Dave burners.

Yeah, I was trying to temper my original statement, bearing in mind that ACL injuries can happen on better pitches too.

His former club (Ilkeston) too.Puts a pin in the everything being rosy at Ilkeston theory.
June 18, 2025 at 5:46 pm #305968What did Clunan say?
June 18, 2025 at 6:08 pm #305970What did Clunan say?
I haven’t a clunan DM
June 18, 2025 at 6:20 pm #305971Basically that things ‘didn’t feel right’ after a couple of months post-signing, and the players began to hear stories about DH’s past – eventually leading to then not getting paid

Great stuff, hope he recovers and signs a long term contract.

A few months back on here, someone shot me down in flames when I suggested it’d be good if the Club did the right thing by Barrows, bearing in mind that, essentially, the state of the pitch caused the injury.
I was also criticised on here for suggesting an opinion that the pitch was a major factor in Barrow’s injury.
The very least the club can do is support him in the way they are.June 19, 2025 at 1:43 am #305981Pleased for Barrows and well done SUFC for standing by the lad.
So that just leaves Beestin rumoured to be signing a new deal and Max K who hasnt been talked about much so far.???IMO we still need another minimum 4 in at least
3 outfield and a keeper, missed out on Hawkins hes gone to Curzon.June 19, 2025 at 7:11 am #305982‘Missed out’ sounds like we were trying to sign him. Assume that’s not the case if he’s gone there and not GP?
June 19, 2025 at 12:42 pm #305984Were we even in for Hawkins ?
