The bit where you said he was “not very good.” I’m not sure who, if anybody, said he was “one of our best ever” but it wasn’t me. He was comfortably the best keeper in NLN and deserves a chance in the EFL. His distribution was excellent, not perfect obviously but outstanding for NLN IMO.

When we signed Fitz he had just come off of a season where he was Chesterfield’s no.1 and played in the NL playoff final in the division above us. So to belittle his experience is nonsense. We’re now going into this season relying on a goalkeeper with ZERO professional starts in football, let alone the division we’re about to ply our trade in or even the division we’ve just come from. He will 100% be targeted by other teams and so far, on the evidence provided in his game time this season and in the cup games last, he is not ready. Those trying to suggest this isn’t anything other than worrying are living in cloud cuckoo land.

There were some of us that were told we were living in cloud cuckoo land for suggesting we’d finish higher than mid table last season, possibly getting promoted. We were ridiculed in fact by so called experts who wrote a lot of words about it.

You make it out as if “experts” at the club are always right, when they clearly aren’t. It was “experts” at the club that decided Jamie Vardy wasn’t worth signing. It was “experts” at the club that decided Charlie Goode was rubbish and sold him for peanuts, same with Cam Burgess (both went on the play in the Premier League). “Experts” at the club decided not to replace Matt Gilks and go with Rory Watson as no.1…that turned out a good decision didn’t it? Sorry Cass. The only thing I will say, is that I am sure that the above quote – even if true – was never made by Knill.
It’s odd, back in the day, I used to get to hear things on occasion – nowadays, that has been replaced wi’ absolutely nowt.

They’re not infallible. But I’d still put faith in those at the club who work with players day in day out over supporters who don’t work with them and who’ve never worked at a professional level. Unless the current management aren’t performing and aren’t up to it, but I don’t think evidence shows that’s the case.
