Didn’t look too bad on the Cleggy highlights
July 13, 2025 at 3:12 pm #306823Where would this forum be without panicking fans banging on?, particularly preseason, we need this next three week period to fly by so they can start moaning about team performance when the season starts.

July 13, 2025 at 3:34 pm #306827“this is a make or break season”
20th or better will be success this season!
Let’s not over burden the players, manager, staff and directors.
We are rebuilding after the catastrophic dominionship of Swann & WHAM!1 user thanked author for this post.

That spill before their second goal gave me a sharp intake of breath.
Just been talking to my Chester mate and the only keeper they have at present is the lad that McIntyre wouldn’t use last season.
Seems like a safe pair of hands is a coveted commodity!
July 13, 2025 at 4:59 pm #306830Butler’s already said they’re looking for another keeper that will challenge him so I don’t get some of the panic narrative.
When you have a manager who completely jumps the gun and states publicly that a player is his number once choice, despite the player in question being an absolute millions miles away and nowhere near good enough is more than enough to spread panic.
No agenda at play here.
July 13, 2025 at 5:07 pm #306831Yeah that Butler bloke is garbage, knows nowt, I mean his one brief last season was to get us promoted and ……oh wait…..
July 13, 2025 at 5:10 pm #306832He didn’t do it without Brus’ help though did he? We’re only trying to help him again.
July 13, 2025 at 5:22 pm #306833Made me chuckle

July 13, 2025 at 5:24 pm #306835Made me chuckle. We wouldn’t have been promoted last season if the Board had followed the advice of a number of posters on here and sacked Butler.
July 13, 2025 at 5:48 pm #306836Yes the amount of superior amateur knowledge about professional football on this forum never ceases to amaze me, we have some scintillating football minds operating on this site.

You looked away for their 2nd goal then?

I suspect DM was listening to Big Country at the time

There are indeed some gifted and insightful amateurs on here (no names) who see things that blinkered professionals don’t.
July 13, 2025 at 6:45 pm #306840They somehow managed to miss on the highlights reel the incident in the first half when he came for a right wing cross that he got nowhere near to leaving the Cleethorpes forward to miss a sitter.

Not you thenJuly 13, 2025 at 7:16 pm #306842Cleethorpes own video picked it up at 1 minute 26 against their little number 9 and as you know MK being directly behind it just went through his hands, maybe should have punched and connected with him he was a dirty Lf, it was him who Roberts squared up to after his foul on him.
Anyway what do we know we only watched and heard it live not with the benefit of cameras on the halfway line with limited highlights.1 user thanked author for this post.

All keepers have a clanger in their locker. Early pre-season friendly. Maybe getting up to speed?
July 13, 2025 at 10:26 pm #306849So making an absolute clanger (not the only one in the game) is “not looking too bad”? We must see things very differently.

Obviously that’s why forums are so diverse and interesting

July 14, 2025 at 2:26 am #306851Tommy Setford is available on loan from Arsenal. Can anyone give him free digs? Quality keeper
July 15, 2025 at 8:43 pm #306936Another clanger from Campbell tonight. I make that at least one in every pre-season game. We need a replacement.
July 15, 2025 at 8:47 pm #306938Came for a cross by all accounts, missed it and was caught in no mans land. Alfreton’s first attack of the game.
July 15, 2025 at 9:21 pm #306941And?
This is getting ridiculous,St Fitz made a stupid number of mistakes.Mathew Hopkins would be embarrassed by the omments on hereJuly 15, 2025 at 9:40 pm #306942Lynch mob
July 15, 2025 at 9:47 pm #306944Lynch mob
Their agenda as usual is set in stone, best ignored or possibly baited occasionally for amusement purposes, several of them are biters.
July 15, 2025 at 9:58 pm #306947Campbell again olé olé.
July 15, 2025 at 10:17 pm #306948Was this a replacement for the cancelled Crowle game?
July 15, 2025 at 10:23 pm #306949The thread set out to spell the need for an experienced goal keeper who has played games at an higher level. That has not changed.
The thread did not set out to destroy any individual. However a lad was handed the No 1 shirt, and told not to read social media.
That was worrying and every Iron fan recognised the importance of Ross Fitzsimmons and his excellent all round capabilities and knack of saving games.
Ross won points and saved games making very few mistakes throughout the two campaigns he was with us.
We need that even more at an higher level a capable keeper who instills confidence in the defence and indeed the crowd.
We simply have not got that at the moment.
Fact.
July 15, 2025 at 11:03 pm #306950One thing’s for sure – he’s not been given a fighting chance, so it’s difficult to judge how well he might perform in future competitive matches due to the impact of the doubters. He’s been court martialed by social media.

Guilty, until proven innocent.
Sad state of affairs.
12 Angry Men.
Give the boy a chance.
Support him and see how he goes.
Another keeper will arrive before the season commences.
Let’s stop persecuting the young lad.
He’s someone’s son, brother etc.
Empathy & understanding. -
