Eastwood is 29 in October and managed a season and a half of games in mens professional football.
Hoping for a better back up for Maison.
July 8, 2025 at 9:09 pm #306632Doubt many got to the end, Rene has too much time on his hands.
Who or what is GPT btw?
What are the intangerineables mentioned by Gurnelista?
July 8, 2025 at 9:18 pm #306634At the end of the day, we’d all love a Yashin, Banks, Zoff, Shilton, Schmeichel between the sticks.
We are where we are with the staff (players) we’ve got.
How are you going to change it?
Unless you can subsidise a ‘glory keepers’ wages – then you can’t.
Hence… support the young un!

July 8, 2025 at 9:21 pm #306635If we support the manager and the whole team the rest will follow Rene, it sure beats speculation and second guessing.

Absolutely… too much ‘fantasy football’ at times.
Electric, water, gas, telephones etc all need paying – it’s a business at the end of the day… and not that profitable a one either.
We’d be defunct if it wasn’t for the fab four!
It is what it is.
Let’s stop moaning and support the board, the football staff, the players and the office staff.
One United!July 8, 2025 at 9:33 pm #306638Johnson played the second half tonight. Any ideas?
July 8, 2025 at 9:35 pm #306639Shocking tonight and GK position worries me massively. Surely an experienced head has to come in as the other GK ?
July 8, 2025 at 9:35 pm #306640Johnson played the second half tonight. Any ideas?
Surely not Boris? lol
July 8, 2025 at 9:51 pm #3066412-0 up, then to lose 2-3… tsk
Yeah, it’s only a ‘friendly’… but there’s no such thing! Players are playing for contracts and to cement their place in the starting X1 for when the season commences.
July 8, 2025 at 10:00 pm #306642Campbell will be well chuffed, hope he doesn’t read social media, oh that’s right he’s not supposed to read it, good job eh.

July 8, 2025 at 10:23 pm #306643To be fair Campbell only let in the first of the three. Trialist keeper couldn’t do much about the other two.
The second half back 4 however, 3 of whom started the play off final, could and should have done something about App Frods equaliser and winner.
App Frod’s right winger had a fine game and their centre forward took his goals well.

July 9, 2025 at 5:00 pm #306677I see young (20) Owen Foster is now at Middlesbrough in their U21 set up.
Loan?I wondered that but ‘Boro like their loanees to be playing.
July 11, 2025 at 6:38 pm #306761Time to back Campbell now then!
July 11, 2025 at 9:16 pm #306762Louis Jones is supposed to be a target ex donny who was at dagenham last season, playing 7 games.
July 12, 2025 at 10:16 am #306778Grandson of Ken?
July 12, 2025 at 11:10 am #306783More likely to be great grandson, I reckon.
July 12, 2025 at 7:20 pm #306789Another thread on Bru deems to undermine the fact that we need a first team goalkeeper.
If we start the season with an unproven keeper who makes basic handling errors we will lose games and be at the bottom of the table.
Most fans I suspect will take a season of consolidation in the National League without the drama of a dogfight trying to avoid relegation.
A bad start sets the rot and undermines a teams confidence. First team keeper needed asap.

July 13, 2025 at 9:35 am #306800Couldn’t agree more Ironking. Most critical piece of outstanding business to be done, I would go as far as to say season defining.
July 13, 2025 at 9:44 am #306802I have to agree with the sentiments on this thread, anytime Scunthorpe United have done well we have always had a good, solid, dependable goalkeeper. It is early days, but from what I’ve seen of last season, and the pre-season, it is clear that Mason is a little rough round the edges. I feel there is a good keeper in there, however I have to wonder if he will be up to the demands of being a number 1 in a highly competative league.
Statements like “this is a make or break season” mean that Butler is putting unecessary presure on Mason.
I know finances are restricted however, I think we should really be looking to bring in a number one and send out Mason on a half-season loan to gain some first team experience. Failure to do so will likely cost us more in the long-term.
July 13, 2025 at 10:20 am #306804If we send him out on loan then we’ll need to sign 2 keepers surely.
July 13, 2025 at 10:35 am #306805And where could we send him anyway, poorer of the 2 on show yesterday by a country mile.
If the crowds turning on you in friendlies it’s going to be a long way back for him.Unless mussie is just a yes man surely it’s up to him to have a quiet word with Butler.
July 13, 2025 at 11:16 am #306807Was the crowd turning on him? Is this going to be another Kyle Wootton scenario AWG?
July 13, 2025 at 11:59 am #306811Did the fans turn on him no, more Butler, watch Gareths blog fans around him vocalizing empathy when he made a save just before halftime.
Said many a time before fans will back everyone from the start of every game but they won’t stay silent when they see continues errors especially when it’s the goalie.
Given that it was at the other end he maybe got lucky with the fans.
Glad Kyle went on did the business with someone else but he just couldn’t do it for us, happens all the time at all clubs.
I do believe he’s toast though.July 13, 2025 at 1:02 pm #306812Thanks. You saved me the bother of watching Gareth’s blog.
July 13, 2025 at 2:00 pm #306816Butler’s already said they’re looking for another keeper that will challenge him so I don’t get some of the panic narrative.
