Some will say the result justifies the original decision. But the truth is that this was a 500 mile round trip for sod all as far as the team and supporters are concerned.

The ref will feel vindicated but this was an extra game and a a long journey we could have done without.

We got the 1-1 draw we had seven weeks ago. Take the point and move on to Aldershot.

As we know, the first game was abandoned in the 93rd minute.
Why didn’t the ref just blow for full time?
You’ve got to feel for the lads & lasses who made the journey last night – what time will they get home… 2am / 2:30am?
What a waste of time, money & effort.

Take the point and move on to Aldershot.

That could be a Shots 3-4 Iron game.

Having said that, the law of enantiodromia will probably see it end up 0-0.

A disappointing draw against a poor Eastleigh side. Game should’ve been put to bed long before their equaliser.

I actually feel like we’re in abit of a slump at the minute since the hard run of games against Carlisle/York etc, we definitely seem a yard or two slower around the pitch. However, contrary to last season where we imploded, we are still picking up results.

Definitely feels slumpish and jaded, though some good build up play was squandered numerous times at the final hurdle. Barely anyone questioned the game needing to be replayed Rene, and at the time we welcomed it thinking we could go back and get 3 points. Just unfortunate we’ve slipped back a little and Eastleigh have picked up.

Just back to the Watson debate, I’m afraid, the only reason this whole conversation about him, and Campbell before that, has become so tribal is due to unnecessary and unfair criticism that started before either kicked a ball in the league this year and has continued seemingly in order to prove the harshest critics right. Maybe if they stopped digging either out for any conceded goal that was hardly their fault we might move forward. But even last night they were at it again. Bru doesn’t exist in a vacuum I’m afraid. Just like any other news topic, it’s part of a social media world and occasionally comments and views from other corners will be thrown in to the pot here, whether some posters like it or not. my post about their keeper during the game last night isn’t due to obsession or agenda with keepers, it came from an observation whilst watching the game on stream and is exactly the sort of comment I would have made to a fellow supporter had I been at the game. Yes, it’s sad the harshest and over the top keeper critics have precipitated it, but an in game observation it was. Just to add, I have no beef with fair criticism of Watson or Campbell; neither are perfect by any means, and there are better keepers out there. It’s the unbalanced and frankly disrespectful comments about them that I and I’m sure plenty of other supporters have that’s the issue.

    Would agree with CBRP.

We’ve had a long run of games every Saturday and Tuesday/Wednesday, not helped by the rearranged Morecambe and Eastleigh fixtures and that daft NL Trophy. Plus injuries and suspensions.

However the fact that we’ve still only had one narrow defeat in fifteen games and amassed a creditable thirty points says a lot about the character of the squad and management.

We’re disappointed about the last two results of course but I don’t think anyone expected us to be where we are in the league a third of the way through the season.

Blimey! We’re on course for a 90+ pts finish. Who’d have thought it?

    @DM66
Perhaps a 90 min+ match abandonment rule needs bringing in?
If a match ending serious injury occurs from 90 minutes onwards – then the scores at that time are the match result?
    * How much did last night cost the club?

The abandonment on Tuesday 2nd Sept has seen us have to play another midweek game. Lads will be tired on Saturday.

    1-1 first time.
    1-1 in the legitimised game.

    Snap.

    * “The Enterprise National League has also issued specific guidance regarding the revenue arrangements for the replayed fixture. A significant portion of the gate income will be allocated to cover the visiting team’s travelling expenses.”

    60/40 split?

I agree we are looking a tad jaded, although that does not excuse some of the misses in front of goal last night! Saturday could be a difficult day, the Shots are probably much of a muchness with Eastleigh. Maybe the return of TSF may pep things up and Ollie Rose’s return may help the defence.

    Attendance: 1,980 (101 away)

    1980 x 20 = £39,600

    Costs?
    Coach £3k?
    Hotel 16 rooms x £100 = £1,600
    Food £1,000
Misc (laundering, players travel expenses etc) £1,000?

    Total = £6.6k

Possibly need 17% of the match receipts to cover costs?

I guess you play inverted full backs to cope with inverted wide men?

Several plusses from last night. The return of Oli Rose, Danny W completing 90 minutes, undefeated away from home.

The huge plus – after fraught times with the inherited debt, superb board management in reducing this debt and still putting out a competitive team. Now having got back up 1 rung to the National League we sit 4th in the league.

I realise we may be slightly over achieving but with a couple of additions the aspirations of many could be fulfilled. Mr Butler showing he is settling into what is needed.

We may be accused of ‘happy clapping’ Sanfran, but I wholly concur.

It is that word ‘Opinions’ .

The one thing I have seen – many saying occasions of poor passing, that should not happen and training should be made to hurt until sloppy/idle/lazy passing is eradicated permanently ! Got to call this out no matter what.

Too many draws, only two teams have drawn more. It cost us promotion a couple of seasons ago, are repeating it this season. Rochdale well away with games in hand – no draws.

Should have been game over at half time with the chances we had, and Eastleigh didn’t really have a sniff until Alfie missed that one-on-one.

An away draw isn’t the end of the world and to be averaging 2 points per game after the first 15 is pretty impressive given where we’ve come from and on a lower budget. Do I see us continuing this form through to the end of the season? Probably not but you never know.

Brilliant start to the season and a massive well done to all..

Alas hand on heart i do think this early excellent form will tail off in fact signs it already is doing with injuries and suspensions derailing the flowing attacking football seen thus far .. at the moment hanging in there with the big money boys but not being clinical in front of goal , too many drawn games and points thrown away will see us loose ground so im predicting it will be a solid AND VERY RESPECTABLE 8th to 10th place finish.
To add a lot depends on the transfer activity in January

Agreed, we’re not losing… but not winning enough.

‘i do think this early excellent form will tail off in fact signs it already is doing with injuries and suspensions derailing the flowing attacking football seen thus far’

Fair appraisal I reckon. Not surprising it looks like it’s happening, which is why I think it’s fairer to accept it and let the club compensate for it the best they can, rather than singling out anyone or anything. All supporters will have ideas about how to improve the situation but targeting individual players as the prime cause, as witnessed recently, isn’t the way forward. It’s a modern phenomenon and not just in football – people expecting instant gratification and club action.

I’d sooner have good results in the first half of the season than suffer a poor start and be worrying about getting away from the relegation zone.

Historically we’re not great in winter so having 30 pts on the board is a huge bonus.

Big plus when we get to 50 points for me. Anything positive after that is a bonus.

The team have done incredibly well to get to 30 points in 15 games having played all of the promotion contenders bar Rochdale.

Don’t think fitness the issue. Just don’t understand why ‘poor passing’ has raised its head ! It should not happen.

Conversion of chances seems to becoming a problem. Are they taking that extra touch, trying to perfect the angle – just hit it !
