What exactly is he here for? He’s had so much good will from Iron fans and consistently lets us down.I can’t see the point of putting him in when we need it to stick up top late in games when the opposition throws the kitchen sink at us .Sadly not good enough

This is the OP (Original Post)!

It’s one thing being critical of Carlton, quite another insinuating the critic wouldn’t be happy for him coming on and playing a blinder.

    Thanks NI
I’d be glad of he gained consistency,he’s not unlikeable.I don’t think he’s done enough in our shirt . If we go up he’s not good enough .
I’m even happy if Whitehall scores and he’s an arse on the pitch

    Much the same for me.
Can’t see him ever being first choice but if he’s going to be an impact sub player he needs to start his season way before December this season and February last season.
At the moment I would let him go at the end of his contract,
But hopefully he’ll be here next season.

There is something there to like. We have seen it in flashes.
I really hope he makes it impossible to get rid.

He had a disappointing 15 minutes at Morecambe but it’s hardly a hanging offence – it’s hard when you’re getting 20 minutes here and 10 minutes there – every error is amplified – but in fairness to him he has the happy knack of scoring vital goals.

Personally I think he’s decent value – we only play one through the middle and he’s not displacing Whitehall – and nor is he displacing Roberts (or Smith, and prior to that TSF either side of DW).

This is the 5th tier – where strength in depth is a dream not a reality. If you want a squad of 22 or 23 at this level then unless you’re running like York you can’t afford superstars sat on the bench, just lads who can do a bit of a job for you.

Feels like we’re asking him to play a role that just doesn’t suit his strengths. He’s not a natural focal point — the first touch under pressure and aerial presence aren’t really there for a central striker. What he does offer is pace, work rate, and willingness to track back, which makes way more sense for a wide forward.

You notice he looks far more dangerous when he’s facing the game and attacking space instead of wrestling centre-backs with his back to goal. Even a quick look at his game-by-game numbers on Cafescore kind of backs that up. We’d probably get more out of him if we stopped forcing him into the No.9 role.
