‘A Night of Stars’ in 1966 at the OSG lost money and they had some big names on. The Who remain the best live band I have seen, including October 1965 at The Baths, a life changer for me. UTWI
A lot of those were big names in the 60s? And the weather ruined the event from what I’ve read.
I had a look the other day the pre sale tickets(£30 and £45) have gone not sure £60 for a 3 day pass is worth it with the line up, that’s if it lasts 3 days…
April 3, 2025 at 9:34 am #301517There were never any early bird tickets available. Looked on day one and zilch.
April 3, 2025 at 10:56 am #301519Marketing ploy. Announce the tickets, then block all the cheap seats out – as if there’s been a rush on them.
People then are under the impression that there’s a demand for it and sheeple being sheeple, they desire it and purchase tickets from the next tier before they are ‘sold out’ too.April 3, 2025 at 2:38 pm #301533Are there enough toilets, catering facilities for 10,000 each day? A drug fuelled audience are a very different kettle of fish to your Saturday afternoon ‘here we go, here we go’ crowd.
Officer K9 is going to have a very busy afternoon.
Are there any plans to have a:First-aid tents – Available to administer any immediate care that may result from overdosing, the taking of impure or dangerously strong substances, bad or negative reaction to drugs (each person will react differently) etc.
Back-of-house testing – this is where private companies at festivals test drugs that have been confiscated or those that have been disposed of. Any negative findings (e.g. severe impurities, contamination, misidentification) will then be reported throughout the festival for the benefit of others.
Front-of-house testing – these are open testing areas where individuals can have their drugs tested by professionals to ensure that they are relatively (though rarely, if ever, completely) pure, have been sold as advertised, or are dangerously or fatally strong.
Minefield… innit!

April 3, 2025 at 2:40 pm #301534Is the hospital aware and on ‘standby’ to receive comatosed / very ill patients due to overdosing or a reaction?

Sue Cook (aka D:Ream and Vengaboys) has pulled out
April 4, 2025 at 3:20 am #301553Just watched the Weekender promo vid uploaded onto the SUFC FB page and its one of the best adverts i have seen …………… for ear defenders.
I had only heard of 3 artists which just goes to prove i am an old fart.
Did note Adele is playing along with Queen ……oh hang on a mo let me re check that !!
April 4, 2025 at 7:44 am #301565The licence; issued yet?
If I was on the committee I’d be against it.
You don’t want drugged up goons wandering around the adjacent shopping outlets when there are young families and elderly citizens going about their everyday business.April 4, 2025 at 8:09 am #301572So has anyone anything remotely positive to comment re this looming Weekender extravaganza ???
Im wondering just how much wonga the club will actually make from it .. especially if the weather is inclement and it goes tits up for any other reasons.. SUFC could well have a bad smell lingering like a stale fart in a taxi if not a success… risky

There are some good headliners..gigs back in the day up the coast…i can’t see it washing its face though. And it’s going to be a Drug fest, no difference to some in the Donny Road on matchday.
April 4, 2025 at 8:49 am #301576April 4, 2025 at 10:22 am #301583You’re always going to get drugs at a festival that’s predominantly dance music. The line up’s not exactly going to attract a ‘loved up’ crowd though. The 90s revival night might be less cagey than Columbia night.
April 4, 2025 at 10:47 am #301585I get the impression they’ve had lots of rejections or never had the contacts in the first place.

Do you mean the Club (pre their association with Zanetti)? Or do you mean Zanetti himself?
April 4, 2025 at 2:15 pm #301617Having had time to digest it the Friday and Saturday are absolutely abysmal. I understand there’s an audience for the Sunday stuff though not my cup of tea at all. Still not sure there’s enough to shift tickets for that night still.

I know it’s local bands and tribute acts on the Friday, but where are you looking for the Saturday line-up? I did see D:Ream mentioned somewhere, though I can’t find that now.

All a bit one dimensional, isn’t it?

April 4, 2025 at 3:53 pm #301629Phats and Small. I think they’re cashing cash at the moment. I actually watched them play a small set at the Elvington firework show last November (and I am not joking).
April 4, 2025 at 3:56 pm #301630Similar to Livin Joy. ‘Dreamer’ is a banger for sure, but a whole set?

April 4, 2025 at 5:35 pm #301638Update: ‘One Last Pay Day’ added to Saturday night acts.
April 4, 2025 at 5:49 pm #301641Here’s a thought,I reckon if certain unofficial concessionaires donate half their Sunday profits the club could be quids in,but like Simon and Garfunkel in 1981
April 5, 2025 at 8:33 pm #301811I’d give it up as a bad job and cancel should the contracts provide that wriggle room. Three days of play on the pitch bookings would make more than this ****show and cause less damage – to the stadium and club’s rep.
