Now Oldham out of the way, I reckon we can still make 3rd with a half decent season
June 25, 2025 at 12:27 pm #306095Carlisle averaged 7,425 last season.
We’ll most probably need north of 6,000 for bronze.
We did 4,399 last season.
A 40% increase required to hit 6,158.
York did 6,138 last season.
40% – a huge increase.
Is it doable?June 25, 2025 at 12:37 pm #306098Not a chance- although we have a good hardcore following we have never had the casual support to get near 5,000. Without looking I suspect the last time we did that was the championship years.
We will do well to clear 4,500 next year. A poor season on the pitch will see us back to struggling to break 4,000
June 25, 2025 at 12:54 pm #306101Yeah, forgot about Carlisle!
June 25, 2025 at 1:48 pm #306103How do we increase the support?
There are plenty of TV glory hunters who follow the likes of the Manc duo, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal.
Then there’s the ones who make the trip along the M180 / M62 to Leeds and those that cross the Humber to watch the mudrats.
More supporters through the gates should generate extra revenue, which we need to have a hope of ever returning to the EFL.
Do you have a cunning plan, Mr Matthew ‘Baldrick’ Roberts?
Promotion to L2 may be beyond the Clubs impendency for the next five years?
Short term, we can measure Roberts success as a CEO by improving the average attendance over the first year by 15% to just over 5,000.
Success would be to improve the attendance a further 20% to an average of 6,000 for season 2026-27.
If he can achieve that, then he’s succeeded over the next 2 years.
If he’s still here in 3 seasons time then success would be measured by securing a play off place.
If we’re not in L2 by 2029-30, then he’s failed.
How long on average do CEOs remain in post at football clubs?
Five years seems an ample timeframe to deliver EFL football.
Let’s scrutinise the CEOs rather than always getting on players & managers backs!

June 25, 2025 at 1:53 pm #306104Based on those figures you’d hope we would have a competitive budget.

Exactly Cass. That’s exactly what we need in order to achieve escape velocity.
June 25, 2025 at 3:35 pm #306106As a long time exec season ticket holder and a supporter of the club in more ways than just attending games, I haven’t and won’t be renewing my season ticket or supporting the club in any way whilst 2 of the current owners are current owners.

Would tend to agree. Does that include Mark Beck?
June 25, 2025 at 3:47 pm #306108The final season ticket sales total should provide a good clue to next season’s average gate, would like to think a reasonable increase is on the cards after promotion.

June 25, 2025 at 3:56 pm #306109The Heed’s attendance has risen by over 50% in recent years!
June 25, 2025 at 5:57 pm #306120Generally agree Rene.
I must admit to being disappointed with the way we’ve gone about business after the season finished; real feel good factor around the club and we just had more home Fans inside GP for a game in its entire history. We should have been hammering sales as hard as we can- instead I know of 3 people personally that had to wait a fortnight for an email back after expressing interest in a season ticket, one of them hasn’t bothered now. Not good enough.
I understand it’s time for people to go on holidays etc, but this is the time of year we make our hay for the rest of the year- it just feels like we aren’t quite tapping into the interest enough.
Lincoln absolutely nailed it when they rode the crest of the wave after their Fa cup run and promotion. They doubled crowds in a season and have created a legacy that will probably last for decades.
June 25, 2025 at 6:05 pm #306121Your talking scunny there CBRP, they don’t know how to promote anything still my biggie is the lottery.
June 25, 2025 at 6:11 pm #306122Wasn’t the new CEO brought in to improve things like this, amongst other things?

Absolutely. No point in getting on his back. He is what he is. Scrimmage & go!
June 25, 2025 at 9:06 pm #306127Surely the crowds should increase with increase in away supporters attending matches
June 25, 2025 at 9:39 pm #306129Not by a great deal of significance to average gates and revenue, I believe I heard / read.
