Butler is in a perilous position entirely of his own making. He brought in his own players and has now decided that he wants to play a system into which some don’t fit. In a 5-3-2 there is no place for Brennan (and no place for Pat Jones despite what Butler wants) and no place for Hurst. According to Butler he brought in Gale as a No10 but that’s not in a 5-3-2 either. There are not enough places for Barrows, Ogle & Starbuck if played in their correct position. There seems to be no place at CB for JB despite needing 3 and there only being 1 other available
