Walter Blunder was not very complimentary about Butterfield after he left, seemingly he must have changed his mind. I hope he changes his mind on Billy Sharp.
Sorry Deerey, my comment was more a general one in response to things like this rather than being directed at you. I’m happy to be corrected if someone can find the quotes and/or interview where he was being critical of Butterfield but I’m pretty sure this didn’t happen either.
It’s probably just a case of the current board simply not being in a position to offer Butterfield what he needed/wanted and Gateshead were able to give him that at the time. Given how it played out – as with most things that get blown out of proportion on social media – the truth is probably somewhere in the middle of what both camps were claiming.
