Unfortunately you have brought up a false religion which closely mimics the truth, Roman Catholicism and the absurdity of purgatory. All man’s religions are in essence the same.They are the same in that in the final analysis men save themselves or achieve some sort of happy afterlife by what they do.In the end ,they believe it is the works,obedience,faithfulness,and personal holiness that determines whether heaven or hell will be one’s eternal resting place.This is impossible.
The Christian rests on the finished work of Christ dying on the Cross as our Saviour. He receives our sins and we receive his righteousness. We rest on Faith Alone ,in Christ Alone as our Saviour . This free gift of Salvation is offered to anyone who reaches out for forgiveness and turns to Christ.We don’t work our way to heaven,we worship and put our trust in the only mediator between God and Man,Jesus Christ. God is rich in mercy to all who ask for forgiveness.Hope that helps.
