I remember going to a Carlisle game by stopping off in Leeds and taking the Settle- Carlisle line to please a train-fan friend.
LONG time ago – appalling weather, horrendous playing conditions – but I think we won. I got soaked to the skin and somehow dodged pneumonia.

Is that the game where the Ref was going to abandon the game but Stevie Lister told him in so many words of what the outcome would be if he did?
Think it was Feb 1989? We won 3-0.
Thinking about it – I think the Steve Lister ‘conversation’ with the ref was at Torquay… old age!
