I was Mick. I’m sure many at WintertonIron understood. Besides being a specialist in pigs he also had his own plane.
A little story that links me, my plane and flying pigs. During the foot and mouth crisis and the virtual lockdown of animal movements we had a challenge. Closing a GGP nucleus farm near Dornoch in Scotland with no chance of moving the pigs to a farm near Banbury. We researched the problem with the Chief Vet in Edinburgh and he allowed me to move day old pigs in my plane. Thus for 6 weeks we moved 100 pigs a time in kitchen boxes between the two farms. The little pigs were put onto nurse sows from the receiving farm.
800 pigs moved with only 2 deaths. Proves beyond doubt pigs can indeed fly!
