I don’t think it was playing 5 at the back that infuriated supporters- after all, until Scarborough away it was working pretty well- it was the failure to recognise that it was no longer working and a new approach was needed! I wouldn’t throw it away as a tactic, particularly away from home at some of the stronger sides in the NL. However, there must be a plan to change to a more flexible attacking system (4 3 3 or 4 2 4) at home or when we go behind away. Whether we will have the players to do this we will see!
