I might be remembering incorrectly but around the time of Butler’s contract extension Michelle gave an interview where she said that the club was protected by some significant clauses relating to promotion.
I took that to mean that if we didn’t go up then we could part ways with the manager without or at least without much of, a payoff.
I may have dreamt it, I may have misinterpreted it, but it could be that there’s a lot riding on the playoffs for Andy in particular.
I doubt that the contract would (effectively) fuck Butler over if we fail to get promotion, but there will be a level of financial protection for the Club in there.
Does it count as fucking over if he signed it? I seem to remember that he was effectively on a verbal gentleman/womans agreement before he signed the current contract so it may have looked appealing from his perspective?
