I fail to see how Russia, with its internal problems with high alcoholism rates, high domestic abuse rates, lack of freedom, silencing of critics, quashing of free speech and poor economics is some preference against the more liberal west. That’s before we get to Russia’s heinous war crimes in Syria, Chechnya and Ukraine. With threats to the other former Soviet states.
A true patriot would be defending our own interests against clear Russian imperialism and disruption to our own country and values. Not quivering, excusing and sometimes applauding Russia’s hostility to our own country.
