We need a way of using the crowd to our advantage not inspiring to the opponents. Sadly the dull crap Butler has decided on sends us to sleep or keeps us away. Hoping to get a 1-0 worked for Tamworth it doesn’t work for us.
Spot on. Our manager has used Tamworth as the Blueprint, without considering the squad at his disposal or the fan base. So much so he even recruited specifically for the long throw. Surprised we haven’t found ourselves in a copyright lawsuit he’s done such a copy and paste job on their team. Grinding out 1-0 wins playing hoofball in front of their 800 fans at home, might have worked for a part-time Tamworth punching above their weight. But it doesn’t work here as a full-time outfit, with the highest budget in the league, playing in front of 3500 (and falling) fans who want to see some football being played.
Not sure I agree with our players being average though. Most NLN managers would be creaming their pants with our squad. We watched 10 out of 11 of our regular starters play last year under Dean, possession based football, with the ball on the ground. They were criticised for being too ‘tippy tappy’. Imagine that! Granted we lost the best footballer in the league who was probably more instrumental than many realised in getting the ball on the deck, calming play down and getting us passing, but that decision again, was seemingly part of Butlers master plan to turn us into Tamworth Mark 2.
It’s dreadful to watch and without action from the board any hope of promotion will be long gone, crowds will continue to drop like a stone and the ‘togetherness’ of last season will be but a distant memory, no matter how many ‘unity’ tag lines the club put out. At the moment the criticism is being reserved for the management but if the board allow this to continue much longer the goodwill will evaporate and the spotlight will turn to their decision making. Sad but true. Football is a fickle results-based business with little room for sentiment.
