I think fans would have been frustrated regardless, tbh.

Also, I don’t think fans who made their minds up on friendlies are showing some greater foresight, necessarily, since friendlies are not some foolproof evidence of where the season is going, and some seem more motivated in ‘being proved right’ over anything else. There were some who had the ‘foresight’ to determine Beckford was a dud based on a couple of poor performances at the start of his loan stint and they were wrong. Was it 22-23 when some fans were impressed with our pre-season? Personally, I think it’s best to give it a chance before making any kind of cast iron judgement. There have been some worrying signs with Butler, but it’s pointless discussing removing him right now; it’s still too early.

Ultimately, we have to allow ourselves chance to be wrong, since it’s feasible Butler changes things round. Some may think this is unlikely, but it’s still possible, and we can’t risk a culture of chopping and changing coming in again. I don’t think that will help.
