I’m just spitballing ideas as to the reasoning behind why the club might have offered him an extension over reactionary outrage. I wouldn’t have done it, but I think there is more of a reason, even if misplaced, as to why.
6 weeks is too soon for an extension, but it is seemingly fine for some to write off completely (or even before 1 game for others).
Fair enough. Still the wrong call, far more downside risk than potential upside. If anything it’s had the reverse effect than intended and added additional pressure to Butler with fans feeling more frustrated by the idea of 2 seasons of poor football and the contract extension becoming a talking point.
Perhaps those you refer to had a little foresight after seeing managerial appointments, recruitment activity and formations / tactics in pre-season?
