One of the major failings of the Swann era was, in my opinion, the complete overlooking of youth-team players. Until of course we massively over-corrected and just played completely under-cooked youngsters in the first team.
A lot of promising talent was overlooked in favour of over-paid, under-achieving signings. And judging by some of the players who’ve thrived since leaving, that has really cost us.
