Blyth Spartans supporters boycotting on Saturday; taken over just before playing us last year by a shady businessman with no traceable wealth. Being ran into the ground and currently occupy the relegation places of the Northern Premier League.
I recall reading about the takeover when it was announced and thinking this will end up in tears. It is about time the football authorities actually started to implement some proper governance in relation to club ownership. Football clubs are so ingrained into their local communities, and it seems that there are so many unsavory characters that are willing to take on ownership. When the proverbial hits the fan, the repercussions are felt beyond the club players and staff.
