I didn’t make the Barton game but a pal of mine did so I’ve had a run down. 3/5/2 was my predicted formation given the absence of any wingers being signed and considering Law and Robert’s are so often out of action. I think 3/5/2 is preferable to the out of fashion 4/4/2 that some were crying out for under Jimmy. The trouble is 3/5/2 can quickly become 5/3/2 and I’m not sure Denton, Kelly or Barrows are really wingbacks. Will be interesting to see how Robert’s will fit into the team if we’re playing without wingers, considering he’s our most eye-wateringly expensive signing he will have to play (when fit!), assuming as the 10.
