Promotion (or not) is surely the key. Achieve that and it’s inconceivable that Dean could be sacked, who would come to a club that sacks a promotion winning manager? It’s funny, in Italian football this sort of thing is really common: you hire a manager to do a job, they do it, the club then decides whether to keep them on to do the next job or to find someone better suited. Managers understand that’s how the system works. Obviously it would be very odd to do that in British football, I just find it interesting how even things that seem “obvious” to us can vary around the world.
