I think he’s also not helped by the fact that managers are also expected to be “personalities” these days. Not everyone can be as engaging a post match speaker as a Klopp, a Steve Evans, someone like that. these guys attract loathing and praise in equal measure but they always say something interesting that people react to.
As others have said JD comes across as very authentic and honest and is clearly passionate about the club despite having taken over at the most challenging time in its history. It would be very easy to walk away and no one would blame him in the current circumstances. Huge testament to his character that he’s not only staying to lead the fight but also seems to be a galvanising figure for the players. I’m happy as long as he can get his message across to the players when it is needed- the media don’t really matter.
