Just a note on commercial sponsorship as I’ve many years experience in this field: don’t know how it works in football but for other cultural organisations I’ve worked for, an agreement/contract is made between sponsor and organisation to deliver benefits based on sponsor publicity/logos/naming etc. Producing a business plan to show how and what the funds will be spent on isn’t necessary (only in the selling part to let the sponsor know what sort of things they’ll be helping to achieve). Effectively, this means the receiving organisation can spend those funds on whatever they like. So long as the sponsors benefits are delivered according to the contract, that’s all that matters. Different matter for grants, when the funds are ring-fenced against delivering programme activity. Hope that makes sense.
