I know a number of City fans who opposed the name change but whenever I asked them why, I never seemed to get a rational answer.
The claim from the Allams was that this would bring in new funding – I never heard anyone deny that this would happen.
Puzzling – but hardly our problem.
Our only issue of import is trying to repair the damage caused at GP by a certain party.
Allam Jr claimed the name change would bring the n a £1m sponsorship deal, when challenged by the FA to provide proof he was unable to do so. The Allams certainly made a profit from their investment via dividends, group tax relief, 5%, later reduced to 4%, interest on their loans, and eventual selling price. Telling long term supporters that ‘they can die when they want’, and calling those that opposed him hooligans, is hardly the best way to win people over. Also the removal of concession prices for kids and oap’s was spiteful. On the other side of the coin local hospitals and the university benefitted enormously from his many donations. The local news reports have it spot on, a man who divided opinion.
Abridged version, hospitals and university work = superb, HCAFC, GTF.
