51 years ago we lost to them at home, so slightly better I guess.
The standard at this level has improved immensely since 1971, unfortunately we are not adapting to it.
We DID perform for 90 minutes today, alas it was not the type of performance that was ever going to win the tie. Lots of possession, controlling much of the game, but zero creativity. We never looked like scoring.
I don’t know if it was the absence of Apter and Butterfield but we had absolutely no penetration. Ntlhe and Boyce must have had more touches than the other twenty players on the pitch put together. “Are you England in disguise?” Sprang to mind!
Someone has mentioned “no urgency”, and that pretty much sums up the difference between the two sides.
Thought Dewhurt could have done better with their goal although there was a nasty deflection, but another goal from a corner that should have been dealt with better.
Some very dejected and limping Iron players disappearing down the tunnel at the end.
This is a very steep learning curve and it looks like it’s going to be more than a one year course!
