Aslef put a letter out about the latest strike on the 13th that says the company’s failed to make an offer that kept pace with the rising inflation,not no offer at all. on aslef.org.uk for all to see conveniently not saying what was offered. If anyone goes missing it ain’t me lol.
The letter is worded that the “….the companies failure to provide a suitable pay offer for 2022 is not acceptable to ASLEF…”
On the same website is a statement from Mick Whelan explaining the offer is nothing;
“And these companies are offering us nothing, saying their hands have been tied by the government. That means, in real terms, with inflation running ahead at 9%, 10%, and even 11% this year, according to which index you use, that they are being told to take a real terms pay cut. And that is not acceptable.“
When that inflation really hits is next year. I fear for our football club, when people are faced with huge energy cost increases and the general cost of living is going up around 10%, are they going to regularly pay to watch National League or even league 2 or 1 football.
Even if Swann leaves will they sell 1500 more season tickets next season ?
