We bring in promising youngsters who don’t always give a toss. They probably have squad numbers in the 40s back at their own clubs. But for their sakes, they need an established side which will bring out their best.
We have no such animal to offer. Everyone loses.
As for the successes – they have been rare over a number of years. Toney and Yates were probably the best but we still had something resembling a team to put out back then and neither would have come on the sorts of wages we offer to loanees these days!
